Do headphones have a better audio quality than earphones?

I was wondering if it is worth replacing my earphones with a headphones set. I am interested in achieving a high-quality sound although my earphones are capable of doing that. The problem is I can not compare them because i have never used headphones. Also, I can see that some of today`s headphones include a digital noise reduction programme. Can you please mention some reasons for buying a set of headphones?

Answer
If you compare a high end earphone with a low end headphone, then no. But if they're on the same level, then headphones would have slightly better audio than earphones.

Can an ipod shuffle 3rd generation be used without the headphones that have the controls?

Socal Bong

The ipod shuffle 3rd generation has its controls on the headphones. Say I want to use a different set of "regular" headphones without controls or want to connect it to a stereo, my car, etc. Can you even play it? Or will it only work with headphones with the remote controls?

Seems like a bad design if so.

Rid of Me

I'd say Rock music represents about 65% of my music.
Pop represents about 25%
And all other genres, 10%.

BQ: Do you prefer listening to music through earphones or speakers?
BQ2: What is your favorite song that is 3:08 minutes long?

Answer
I think about 90% of my collection is Rock. The remaining 10% is a mix between county, jazz, world, and big band/swing. Although, that isn't to say I have a few albums from each genre...I have several. I have a lot of music! LOL
Punk makes up about 70-75% of my overall collection.

I definitely prefer speakers! Headphones are really bad for your ears.

3:08? This is an awesome question! LOL
It's a tossup between:
Should I Stay Or Should I Go by The Clash
Last Call by Street Dogs
Hey Pachuco! by Royal Crown Revue
Hometown Zero by Hometown Zero
Break The Glass by Suicide Machines

All those songs are REALLY good!

How to become a better bass guitar player?

Shaun Kell

I have a bass and I try to practice it regularly. The only problem is it is sooo boring. I love heavy metal music. I'd say my biggest bass inspirations are Cliff Burton and Jason Newsted from Metallica. I want to be able to play like them, but I just can't seem to bring myself to practice enough. I don't have any friends to practice with or any teachers. And I don't think I'll be getting a teacher anytime soon. So how can I make my practice sessions more fun and more interesting so ill actually want to practice and get better faster while having fun?

Answer
First of all, create a routine - have a set time each day that is marked off for practice time. I get up at five every morning, go downstairs, fire up the amp and put headphones on, and play till its time to get my kids up for school. You might pick an afternoon or evening time instead, doesn't matter. But force yourself to go pick up your bass at that time for a couple of weeks; eventually you will just do it automatically without even thinking about it.

When you practice, do two things, and split your time between them; work on technique and theory, and play songs. Playing songs is for fun; set yourself up to play along to music you like (like your Metallica). That's for motivation and enjoyment. But don't only listen to music you already like; open yourself up to different kinds of things. The great musicians are great because they bring in something they learned from jazz or classical or some other style of music and use it to make their rock (or whatever) playing fresh and distinct. If you like Cliff Burton, find out what Cliff Burton says HIS influences were and go listen to THAT.

The other thing is to work on theory and technique. Learn your scales and run them till they are as natural as the alphabet. Then modes, and learn the circle of fifths. Fingering exercises are useful too; there's a book called "bass fitness" that's full of great exercises to make you a better player. Work with a metronome to improve your timing.

Alternate playing fun music with drilling your scales and theory and you'll improve. Also, start looking for other people to play with. Ask around your school or post a craigslist ad. Just start jamming so you get used to creating music with other people.

I listen to a lot of dubstep, and the earbuds that I've been listening to (including sony's heavy bass 16mm driver earbuds) have flimsy base that gets covered up by the mids and trebles. Are there headphones/earbuds (maybe dual driver headphones?) that can seperate the frequencies and make the bass much louder than the mids or trebles?

What are the best on-ear/ over-the-ear headphones for around $75-$125?

Tyler

So I've been looking for a good set of headphones that can actually give a really good bass sound to headphones. I've been searching for the past two weeks and have a couple in mind but without being able to try out comfort or sound it's hard to decide and comfort is a big deal.
These are the pairs I have in mind as being pretty decent:
Sony MDR-XB800 ($100 at costco $150 on amazon)
Grado Sr-80i
ATH-WS55 Solid Bass
Audio-Technica ATH-M50S
In all honesty the Sony headphones are my favorites so far because they have a good amount of bass and the cushions on them are like having on the ear headphones yet the driver is still 50mm for the bass. So the more similar to that the better.

PS please nor dr dre or sols i want some higher quality than that.

Answer
From those, either Grado or Audio-Technica. Other reputable brands include Sennheiser, Shure, Denon, AKG, Bowers & Wilkins, Etymotic and Beyerdynamic.

I'm John C

My ipod touch fell in my toilet for a brief moment like less than one second. What I want to know is will my apple warranty cover it the touch was jail broken, but luckily I was able to restore it back to when it wasn't jail broken. Another thing now is that it won't turn on and the red litmus paper shows red on my touch. What should I do? I heard that if the earpiece jack shows red I can't exchange my itouch so is this true? Thanks!

Answer
ok exact same thing happened me bout a month ago ipod touch 2nd gen 16 gb aswell!!and i got mine to work perfectly today absolutely nothing is wrong with it!! so hope this helps!had to share the good vibes!!

k it fell in the toilet and was totally submerged, same as u i grabbed it straight away so it was in there a max of a couple of secs. my ipod had a rubber case on it that cover the back of it and a a scratch protecting sticker on the screen but the ports wer completely open and the case was a little loose so i dunno if it actually helped in anyway. i panicked started drying it with toilet paper and VERY GENTLY pushed the toilet paper into the openings at the base for the earphone and for charging cable, then i removed the case and dryed any water that had got in behind. my ipod had been asleep in my pocket when it went in so i started pressin buttons to see if it worked the screen came on the picture was perfect but the backing light was gone and touch screen was not responding however power button and vol buttons on sides and top wer. without touch function working tho i could not turn it off like i knew i should so i continued tryin for about 2 mins till the picture broke up and faded and ipod died completely. i was at work so i went out and told people i wrapped it in a towel for 5mins and left it in a warm dry place as someone suggested, then someone else told me to blow it with a hair drier so i did for about 5 mins and then gave up as it did not respond afterwards. i then gave up and left it in my bag till i got home approx 3 hours later. i googled it immediately and learned that a hairdryer is actually one the worst things i could have possibly done! and that the fact that it was powered on was also terrible NEVER turn on a water damaged ipod till u are POSITIVE it has been completely dried. i became resigned to the fact that it was a lost cause however some ppl suggested putting the ipod in a bowl of rice in a warm place so i put it in my airing cupbord in a bowl of rice covered with a towel for about a month. i tryed turning it on a few times over the month BUT i never charged it in case it was still wet just clicked the buttons. today i decided a month was long enough plugged it into my laptop and it said battery flat , took a min but began to charge and every single function on it works 100% perfectly and the picture and lighting is all flawless. sound doesnt seem to have been effected either!! so theres hope for you yet! as regards the red litmus paper in headphone jack i came across this phenomenon while frantically googling solutions and came across this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTVUs-wWCZw&feature=related which might be helpful, wasnt much good to me tho coz i live in ireland and we dont have genius bars. i flashed a torch down my headphone jack after it fell in tho and it was white i think this may have been because i pushed the toilet paper in the openings to dry it almost immediately after pickin it out of the toilet. which may have dryed it before it got to the litmus paper. hope this helps.

p.s. from all my googling i got the impression apple dont cover water damage under warranty.

this site explains the rice method well. http://www.methodshop.com/gadgets/ipodsupport/toilet/index.shtml

wud be interested to see how u get on, hope i helped!

Answer
Don't bother with the gadgets-- everything they claim to do you can do by yourself. The biggest drawback of working out at home is the distractions and excuses. So if you can get away from your home it is the best. Does your high school have an open weightroom? Can you go out for a sports program? Is there a park nearby? I find the best motivator is my iPod. If I put the headphones in I am isolated from everything else so I can get out and move. Running and walking are free. Getting a diet buddy is also recommended. Sometimes when someone else depends on you you'll do what needs to be done. Sometimes when they show up on your doorstep your excuses evaporate, sometimes you are the one who keeps them going.
You can also try to use your own bodyweight against itself. That being pullups, crunches, pushups, dips, jumpingjacks, etc. There are plenty things you can do for free. You can also look into garage sales. Lots of cheap items can be aquired from them. But be warned sometimes these very items will be in your own garage sale so choose wisely. The simplest item you can buy is a jumprope. I bought one to do between my sets of lifting.
I'm not going to layout an exercise plan or diet plan for you. There are plenty of websites out there that will help. Finding the information for yourself is a sign that you are serious. Just having someone tell you what to do without knowing why is a sign of not being serious.
added after seeing your limitations: are you in an apartment? you could run up and down the stairs.

What are the best high end over-the-ear headphones to use with an IPod? I use to think Bose was the best but have heard lately that their headphones are not so great. I'd like something with good noise blocking and bass which the Ipod can power.

Answer
sennheiser makes some great ones. bose is ok, but horribly over-priced. My Shure E2c's cost me about 100 bucks and sound about a million times better than those 300 dollar boses. Then again, my home stereo setup cost about 8,000 bucks... so I have some idea what to compare to.

how can i buy a good pc with high sound quality?

jomana

i don't know anything about the sound cards and this stuff, and I've heard that the Amplifier of the PC can affect the sound quality too, so please, if you know something about this stuff, tell me guys, cause i care a lot about sound quality since i'm using high-end headphones.

Answer
Agreed a external DAC (digital to analog converter) is the best option, and if using headphones only one with a built in headphone amplifier is also a good choice. There are many to choose from and they vary greatly in sound quality.

You will also want to buy one that can process higher bit rate music, for higher quality music is also important if sound quality is important.

I would not recommend any MP3 files, from many of the down-loadable music sites, but either burn your own music cd's at full resolution, wav or at the very least apple loss-less, or download from sites like HD Tracks that have high resolution audio music files. There are somethings to understand and consider when downloading these high resolution files, but its well worth the effort.

You can get a good DAC headphone amplifier anywhere from $250 like the Audioquest Dragonfly, to the Centrance hifi m8t which I love for the money $699. There are also many others beyond these.

Another good site is computer audiophile, which has many good resources for high resolution computer audio.

Kevin
40 years high end audio video specialist

Edit; who are the idots that gave me negative responce ? I am an expert in my field and gave excellent recommendations, MP3's suck all bit rate versions, we have to get past these cheap and poor sounding downloads, and back to higher quality music files, wav, and higher bit rate music. Anyone that would give my recommendation a thumbs down is clueless.

You can get any sort of good headphones you like, and just use this 25ft audio extension cable I found for only $1.73. The link is in my sources.

It goes from 3.5mm to 3.5mm so any normal headphones you use with an mp3 player or CD player will work.

Looking for some nice headphones for guitar amp?

Pazuzu

I'll admit that I know just about nothing about headphones, other than your typical MP3 player earbuds. I'm looking for a really nice set of headphones to use with a guitar amp so I can practice quietly. I'm running a nice Randall tube head and I want to be able to retain that great tone quality, but I don't want to spend much more than $200.
If it helps give an idea of what would suit my uses, I play lots of clean guitar as well as running a pedal for highly-distorted tones for metal. I want to be able to retain my crystal-clear clean tone with plenty of bass, as well as a sharp, modern metal tone with scooped mids and the bass and treble bumped up.
A long cable is necessary. Thank you.

Answer
What you want is the Audio Technica ATH-M50. They're accurate and have a wide frequency range. More transparent highs and better bass than something like the Sony MDR7506 (also very popular). Great for instruments, mixing and they're even becoming popular with audiophiles on a budget. You would love having these around.

They are available with a 10' straight cord or a coiled cord. Straight gives you more freedom if you won't be using them out and about with a portable player. You can always add an extension.

There's also a silver anniversary edition with the straight cord available right now.

You have to be careful where you buy them. There are fakes out there. Amazon has good prices, but I would only buy if shipped directly from them, not a 3rd party seller... unless it's a place you know and trust. Guitar Center carries them too.

Corey

I can only afford up to $400 headphones

Answer
Well, first of all, skip monster, skullcandy, and bose right off the bat. None of them are worth anywhere near their msrp. A price range isn't really enough info to recommend a good set of headphones, so I'll just tell you about several brands.

Sennheiser:
Most reputable audio brand. All of their higher end models are laid back with good soundstage (i.e. you can close your eyes and pinpoint where each instrument is). They fare well with jazz and classical, but some may find it slow and boring for genres such as rock, or even jazz and classical. Also, if you're willing to spend $400 in the sennheiser line, you will need a headphone amp and dac to push the headphones. That will probably significantly raise the price. Plus they're all open back, as in they'll sound better than closed back headphones, but they leak both ways more than any closed headphone and people will definitely hear what you're listening to. Not recommended for portable use.

Grado:
Family owned business known for having a very fun, energetic sound that works wonders for classic rock. That's not to say they don't fare well with any other genre; they're great for adding a little energy to any genre. All the models in the grado line are open back.

Denon:
Bassy sound that still manages to represent the entire spectrum very well. It will not drown the mids and highs with bass like the beats do (which makes them all the better) and they have great soundstage for a closed headphone.

Beyerdynamic:
They make everything from neutral sound to a v-shaped sound. Some may need amps, others won't. Some are closed and some are open. They have a great portable pair of headphones (t50p I believe). I don't know too much about the brand, but they are well regarded.

AKG:
Flat sound with great soundstage. They're open back and definitely need an amp to shine. Keep in mind, however, these are some of the most bass light headphones you will find on the market.

Audio-Technica:
Great all-rounders for cheap. The M-50 is very well regarded, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's the best headphone under the sun, which some would have you believe. They're not; they're just great for the price if you want a good set of closed back headphones.

V-moda:
Not really great until you get to the M-80. They're all great portable bassy headphones with a very sleek look, but the M-80 is the best sounding of the line at ~$200.

If you need more help, go to head-fi.org. You will find all the information you need, and then some.

some questions about playing a guitar?

bornirish5

hey, like I really want to be able to play the guitar. I think i would enjoy it. but I probably wouldnt be able to get lessons.... so would it be worth looking into? and what do I need to know if I decide to get a guitar? I would want an electric guitar if anything. I am a total noob to guitaring if i got into it. so what would I need to know?
and how would I go about tuning it? like is it supposed to tune a certian way?

Answer
Hello,

Q1." So would it be worth looking into?"
Of course it would ;) . And yes, you can learn on your own, there are electric guitar methods available in music stores, as well as free online lessons (see the sources section).
However, you need to be aware of what lies ahead of you after you pick a guitar and a method: learning the basics (correct hand and body positioning, how to read tabs, how to fret and strum, chords...)
and more importantly practicing for hours and hours over several months just to start playing a little.

The beginning is very tedious, you'll feel pain on your fingertips due to the pressing of strings against the guitar's neck, you'll have to keep repeating the same chords over and over again. If you're still at it after the first 6 months, you'll probably do fine. Advice: even if you don't get a teacher, do try to contact other beginners. Mutual support can help when you're discouraged.

Q2. "what do I need to know if I decide to get a guitar?"
Based on my personal experience, here's some advice I can give you to choose your guitar.

Your choice should be dictated by two main points:

1. Your feeling: try before you buy. You're going to be playing your guitar for a while, so make sure that you like how it sounds, how it looks, and are comfortable with it. Take your time, try several guitars, both plugged and unplugged. If you don't like what you ear, go for something else. Also, make sure that the guitar store sets up the guitar properly for you, and ask them to show you how they do it, and how to change strings. Note: I would not buy from the internet at first, unless you can set up your guitar yourself or know someone who can do it for you.

2. Your budget. Electric guitars require an amplifier to work, as well as a shoulder strap and an audio jack to connect the guitar and the amp. You'll also need a tuner and a few picks (plain nylon 1mm ones are fine). 200-250 EUR will get you an electric guitar starter pack complete with an amplifier, a learning method and some accessories. What you get is basic but good enough to get started. You can also buy each component separately.

Regarding beginners guitars: There are all sorts of brands out there that offer cheaper guitars for beginners. If you're going for electric, the best known brands would be Squier by Fender, Epiphone, Ltd by ESP, Ibanez, Yamaha... These manufacturers want to keep a good image, so they're more careful about their beginner guitars' quality. They're also a bit more expensive.
Of course, the bigger your budget is, the better: if you're sure you're going to keep playing and can afford a US made Gibson or Fender (1000+ EUR), do so.
Personally, I started on a Squier Affinity Series "Fat Strat" with a VOX DA5 amplifier, then I upgraded. I now use a Washburn X50 PRO and a Gibson Les Paul Studio.

Regarding amplifiers: you can get very good "rehearsal" ones for less than 100 EUR. They're not powerful enough for a concert (5W max) but more than enough for a flat, a house or a garage jam session. They're also smaller and can even work on a battery if need be. Examples: Roland Micro Cube, Vox DA5, Line 6 Micro Spider.
If you really want to save money, you could also go for the Vox AmPlugs AC30, which are purely battery operated and plug into the guitar itself. The main problem is that they have no loudspeakers, so no playing out loud is possible unless you use external loudspeakers. It's mostly meant to be used with headphones.

Other things:
Pickups(PU): pickups are the rounded rectangles you'll find under the strings on the guitar's body. They come in 2 formats, single pick ups and humbuckers. Simply put, singles have a brighter sound but tend to get interference easily from amplifiers, microphones. Humbuckers are free from interference and have a heavier, crunchy sound sound Humbuckers are much larger than singles. Typical Single PU guitars: Telecaster, Stratocaster. Typical Humbucker guitars: Les Paul, SG. Don't worry too much about those at first. As I said earlier, when you try a guitar, you'll know what you like.

Vibrato/Tremolo: this allows you to change the notes' pitch so that it seems to "vibrate". It's neat but it has major drawbacks: Fender models are good but they detune the guitar very quickly, Bigsby models look great but aren't very spectacular sound wise, Floyd Rose models are very good but if you break a string, it will be a pain to replace it due to this model's design. My advice: don't bother with those at first. They're nice to have but not required.

Q2: "how would I go about tuning it? like is it supposed to tune a certain way?"
Yes, there is a standard way of tuning a guitar
If I use the classic 6 string diagram, with the notes on the left:
E ----------------------------------------⦠High E string (thinnest string)
B ----------------------------------------â¦
G ----------------------------------------â¦
D ----------------------------------------â¦
A ------------

Looking to buy a good pair of headphones for around 40-50pounds in London. Was wondering what the best shop is to buy good quality headphones at a low price like this. Also wondering what models are good for both sound quality and reliability. I was wondering on how good the Ear pollution models are?
It could be in ear phones or over head phones, just which models are the best at this price and where is a good store to buy this aside to online?

Answer
Please do yourself a favour and do NOT buy Turtle, JH, Dr.Dre/Beats/Solo, Ludacris/Soul, Koss, Skullcandy, Lady GaGa, Skullcrushers, Monsters nor Bose, because they are ALL seriously overhyped and overpriced "fashion blingbling gimmicks" with a very poor durability and sound quality, NOTHING else (and those who try to claim they are good do NOT know ANYTHING about QUALITY anyway!), be them fake or not! If REAL quality is an issue, please go for REPUTABLE brands only such as B&W, Sennheiser (most affordable), Shure, Grado, Denon, AKG, Audio-Technica, Etymotic or Beyerdynamic. Things like Sony, JVC and Philips are ONLY "okay-ish".

What is the difference between sensitivity and impedance?

best headphone impedance

best headphone impedance image

burningice

I have been looking at headphones and was getting confused about the difference between sensitivity and impedance.
-I've been told that sensitivity is: The higher the rating, the louder your headphones will play.
- Impedance is: Generally, the higher the impedance, the more electrical energy is required to drive the headphones' tiny speakers. Because of the limited power available from a portable player, headphones for portable use should have a maximum impedance of 64 ohms. The lower the impedance, the more efficient the headphones.

It seems to me that they are counteracting each other, can someone explain the difference?

Answer
Impedance is a measure of the electrical resistance in the headphones. Usually only expensive audiophile headphones for the home will have very high impedance, and they are often sold with their own amplifier. The sensitivity rating is a real-world measurement of the volume output by the drivers, usually measured at a power level of 1 milliwatt. That's the only number you should be interested in. The two are related, but the sensitivity in SPL (sound pressure level) is what is important in actual use. Any unit with a SPL rating of 90dB or higher will be fine for use with a portable music player, though the higher the higher the number, the less high you'll need to set the volume on the player. Getting a more sensitive pair of headphones or earbuds can extend battery life a little bit, but basically anything you'll find for sale at a regular store will work fine for portable players.

How many ohms should my headphones be for Ipod?

doyle d

How many ohms can my ipod power well without a headphone amplifier? How high of impedance headphones should i get with my ipod?

Answer
for an ipod you shouldn't have to worry about that. I had the ipod earphones with my 2G touch and they went quiet in one ear after about 1-2 months. so now i have in ear Sony earphones that are ridiculously good quaility and have great bass, noise isolating and cost about $80 AUD. just buy anything from sony, most reliable. my last ones lasted me for about 4-5 years :)

Can I splice different headphone wires together?

Steven

I have two sets of headphones(earbuds). both have 1 broken headphone. So I cut off the good one from one of the sets and cut off the broken one on the other. I tried to splice the wires together but it didn't work. Anything I can do? I'm not an expert at any of this.

Answer
Yes you can do so. First cut off and discard of the damaged earphone. Take the second pair and cut on of the earphones off, make sure you have enough wire just incase of a mistake. There will be three wires: gold, blue and red. Carefully strip the insulation from both wires just enough to not make much mess. Now take any wire and burn it for 1 second or two under fire, why you should do this because all wires in earbuds contain strips of material to prevent contact with other wires that can cause short-circuit. Burn all of the coloured wires like this and carefully with any type of a sharp object scrape off the leftovers on the wires to ensure you will have clean contact. Now all you do is wrap coloured wires with the other same colours and carefull insulate individual wire with electrical tape to prevent short-circuit. Double check everything and volia.

How to weld a headphone wire without a weld machine ?

I don't have a weld machine and I want to stick the wire to the aluminum on the board piece inside the headphone. is there anyway ? your help will be very appreciated.
Man this glue thing made it even worse, :S

Answer
You could create a makeshift soldering iron out of an old file or piece of metal with a point that you can heat up on a gas burner. Wrap one end with a piece of leather so it doesn't burn you and get some rosen core solder.

What kind of headphones are good quality without being $300.?

Emily

So I love listening to music and I want some quality headphones that make it seem like just me and the music. I've been told bose noise canceling are really good, but they are like $300. Are there any other type of headphones that give quality sound but aren't as expensive?

Answer
No longer available new but try to find a pair of Wharfedale Isodynamic phones. Made in the 1970's but the quality is the best I have ever heard and the ear muffs isolate the listener from the rest of the world.

Definitely worth the search.

I WILL EAT

I want to get some headphones for school (I'm 15 in sophomore year of high school), that look really cool. I don't want to spend more than 60 dollars, and as long as the sound quality is better than the ipod headphones it's good enough for me.

I've researched brands like skullcandy and earpollution, but there is so many choices I can't find the perfect pair I like. Also please tell me where I can buy them in stores or if not the website. Thank you!

Answer
There are a lot of choices for headphones. Important things for you to consider are how comfortable you want them to be for long listening sessions, whether you will use them while exercising and how much you are willing to spend.

For a fairly inexpensive earbud option that fits within your budget, I would recommend Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket earbuds. They have very good sound quality and come with both silicon and foam eartips to help you find the most comfortable fit. They will work with an iPhone or iTouch, too.

A good option is the ZAGG Audio Zbuds, especially if you are going to use the earbuds with an iPhone or an iTouch. They also have good sound quality and a built-in mic to use with voice calls.

More details and a review of each of these models can be found in the links below.

Any recommendations for some good headphones?

Kris

Looking for a pair of headphones that meet these criteria: under 60.00, comfortable, not too open because don't want sound to leak in and out, and covers the ear. These will be used for an ipod and a cd player mainly. Researched the Koss Portapro and Sennheiser PX100. Thoughts on the two or others would be great.

Answer
Somy are always top rate. Unfortunatley with $60 limit these are abut the only 3 brands you can get.

Maybe it's the iPod. You can send it in (iresq.com) and you can get the headphone jack fixed.

so this has never happened before but lately, no matter what headphones i buy, whether they be expensive or cheap they always stop working after like a month of use. This is only happening with the ipod i have now, not with the other ones i had before, could it be that my ipod is screwing my headphones up, or am i just listening to my music too loud?

Answer
there are a lot of ways for them to fail - HELLO, CAN U HEAR ME????

well yes playing them too loud is one of them but I wouldn't worry about the headset as much as what hearing aid u will be buying in the near future.

What are the best headphones I could buy?

Chance Jul

I take my music very seriously and want to hear everything that the mic picked up in the studio. I have Beats Mixrs and they sound good to me but apparently there are better because i look up beats quality and all I get is they're over rated pieces of crap. So i want to know what headphones to buy that are comfortable stylish and sound clear as possible i want to hear the sound like it should be heard no holding back loud and proud. For under 300$ of course.

Answer
http://www.urbanesia.org/index.php?k=xbox+360+headphones&c=all

These headphones are the perfect gift or accesoy to any gamer who enjoys FPS games. I can have the volume as loud as i wanted without disturbing my kids or wife. I can also watch movies and even though they are wired it is long and easy to keep under controll and out of reach of little kids. They are ultra comfortable and the sound is great. I would perfer surround sound for sure but did not have enough to invest in the next grade up. the price was a little high 60.00 but it was worth it. On Call of Duty black ops i can hear enemies entering a building on the first floor while im on the second floor, not only that but i can also hear what direction it is coming from. I ultimatley decided upon the wired pair as well because i read many reviews stating the lower end wirless headphones had lots of interference in the presence of wireless products i.e. baby moniter, laptop, cell phones, and basically anything that is wirless. Bottom line great sound, decent price, and looks awesome.

Answer
How about some Turtle Beaches? Found a cheap set : http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/xbox-gaming-headsets/ear-force-xl1.aspx

Turtle Beaches are pretty well known for their excellent quality. I have tried a not as great headset of that link, but they were amazing. Noise stayed inside the headphones and not like echoing everywhere where you could hear it from 10 feet away or even 5 feet away at maximum sound. They were perfect as they have in-game sound and a bass boost i believe and some extra settings on some of theirs. I can't wait till I get another pair this Christmas. Hope you find your choice soon.

~Merry Christmas(:
