I have two sets of headphones(earbuds). both have 1 broken headphone. So I cut off the good one from one of the sets and cut off the broken one on the other. I tried to splice the wires together but it didn't work. Anything I can do? I'm not an expert at any of this.

Answer
Yes you can do so. First cut off and discard of the damaged earphone. Take the second pair and cut on of the earphones off, make sure you have enough wire just incase of a mistake. There will be three wires: gold, blue and red. Carefully strip the insulation from both wires just enough to not make much mess. Now take any wire and burn it for 1 second or two under fire, why you should do this because all wires in earbuds contain strips of material to prevent contact with other wires that can cause short-circuit. Burn all of the coloured wires like this and carefully with any type of a sharp object scrape off the leftovers on the wires to ensure you will have clean contact. Now all you do is wrap coloured wires with the other same colours and carefull insulate individual wire with electrical tape to prevent short-circuit. Double check everything and volia.

How to weld a headphone wire without a weld machine ?

I don't have a weld machine and I want to stick the wire to the aluminum on the board piece inside the headphone. is there anyway ? your help will be very appreciated.
Man this glue thing made it even worse, :S

Answer
You could create a makeshift soldering iron out of an old file or piece of metal with a point that you can heat up on a gas burner. Wrap one end with a piece of leather so it doesn't burn you and get some rosen core solder.
