How do i charge my wireless headphones?

bvb4life

i bought these wireless headphon at a yard sale and the headphones part doesn't have a usb plugin, only a headphone jack.

Answer
Go search the internet about the headphone's brand and specs (specifications). If the headphone's brand's name was already removed or faded, which you can find at the outer part of the item, and you don't know have any clue about the item you bought, check its outer parts, like a battery slot. If it doesn't have a slot or a compartment, then you have no choice but to go to the little difficult part,

which is finding a 'jack-usb end cable' in any market or electronic stores, heres an image link:

http://100amerisure.info/2013/04/13/usb-to-headphone-jack-female-enjoy-premium-quality/

'jack-usb end cables' are partnered with a 'usb-port adaptor' (if you want to charge it to a plug socket) and can also be connected to a computer or laptop, heres an image for the adaptor:

http://www.adafruit.com/blog/2009/02/13/one-person-product-design-manufacture/

Are you sure its a wireless headphone? which is bluetooth-powered? If not, then maybe it is a kind of 'direct headphone' (headphone direct to the music player). Heres the image for the 'removable cable' of direct headphones (jack-jack end cable):

http://www.igeneration.net.nz/line/7579/3-5mm-audio-aux-cable-for-mp3-ipod-iphone-5-0m/

If all of this doesn't work, you may want to repair it to any repair/electronic shop or if you don't want to spend any more budget, try to return it to the place where you bought it and refund your money or replace the item for another yard sale item.
If not possible, ask for its charger/cable instead.

Hope you enjoy your headphone, even if its from a yard sale which is 2nd hand. 0(-.-)0

Help finding great Gaming/Music Headphones?

Mast3r_Zer

I'm looking for some Headphones that could put out the position of a enemy in a FPS but I don't want some headphones that ditch warmth, bass, and musicality for sheer performance and detail-whoring. I was looking at the Audio-Technica AD700 but they ditch the bass ect for Detail, I was reading this guide --> http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-updated-8-17-2013-cal-nuforce-hp-800-fiio-e12-reviewed <-- but it doesn't show any headphones that are in my price range which is 0-150 150 is the absolute max . I want headphones that Have good Sound Position but also Good bass I know some headphones you can toggle the bass off sorta . I was looking at the Sony XB700 but the Bass is mainly overthrowing my friend has them and have tried them. I would like the best of those two .

Answer
If you want good headphones you have to decide what your priority is. Gaming or Quality? There isn't any middle ground at all, if they include a microphone (gaming) they will NOT be good sound quality. It also makes a huge difference whether or not you are running a headphone amplifier or just plugging it into your motherboard/soundcard.

If you want a gaming headset the best one I have used is the Sennheiser PC360s but they will run 170 and you said your max was 150. Sennheiser has been my headset of choice for most of the last 10 years, nothing else that isn't audiophile quality comes close to their sound quality (at least sub 200 dollars).

If you want audio quality look at the Sennheiser HD500 series of headphones, without a microphone the HD558 are just under 150 bucks and will blow away anything else for the price. Keep in mind that if you do that you'll need either a clip on mic (which suck), a desktop mic (even worse) or a second headset that you wear around your neck and mess with until you find a good position where the mic picks you up (look like a pro but still sound worse than a built in).

Honestly though, sound positioning has almost nothing to do with your headphones and everything to do with your sound card. If you're running onboard sound instead of a Xonar or X-FI card that's going to be a better upgrade for your money until you can save up for a good set of headphones.

how to make a headphone stand?

Prateek Ag

I want to make my own headphone stand that should be attractive......plzz tell me

Answer
No offense, but the search engines tend to be a good source to find this kind on information :-)

I just entered the search term "how to make a headphone stand" (without the quotes) into Google, and it returned a number of results.

I will assume some basic woodworking skills and some spray finish it all it will take.

Headphones w mic on laptop?

sauleha

My laptop has a jack for headphones and a jack for microphones. I have apple headphones that have a built in mic. which jack do i plug it into for both the mic and the headphones to work? If i do so, will the laptops built in mic still be on, or will both mics be on?

Answer
The Apple iPhone headphones are not a standard configuration (or at least they weren't and most computers don't recognize them as a standard format). You can use an iPhone headphone as a headphone for any device with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack (like your laptop), but to use the microphone with anything other than an iPhone, you will need an adapter. http://www.showmecables.com/product/iPhone-Head-Set-Breakout-Cable-3-5mm-TRRS-Jack-to-Dual-3-5mm-Stereo-Plug-6-IN.aspx.

The iPhone microphone is not much better than what is on most laptops, so if you wanted this for Skype calls, just use the headphones in the headphone jack and your laptop's on board microphone. If you wanted something of higher quality, you are better off getting a USB headset. Logitech has some nice ones.

whats the best quality headphones for $60?

David Will

The three options Im looking at are the Sennheiser HD 201, the AKG K44 and the Sony MDR-XD100 Hi Fi Earphones Headphones. I dont know much about the sound quality of headphones and I dont have much money but which out of these is the best sound quality?

Answer
For headphones/headsets audio, I have always relied on Sennheiser. Although Sony is great (and expensive), for audio Sennheiser has my preference. They are dedicated to making headsets and audio solutions. My headphone from sennheiser is rock solid, and has great sound quality. I don't have experience with AKG.

Best thing would be to read some reviews online, but with Sennheiser you can't really go wrong in my opinion.

Best large headphones for $60?

joska

I'm looking for full sized headphones for perhaps a little more than $50.

I would be using them with my Zune as well as at home, so they shouldn't require too much power.

They must be quite rugged and of sturdy construction, preferably with removable cords but that might be too much in this range. Definitely no sissy little collapsible crap which would break in a few months.

Answer
I am an audiophile. I like to spend a lot of money on headphones...I believe that the headphones will "bottleneck" your sound long before whatever sound device your are listening on will.

That being said, my favourite pair of full-size headphones, or cans, were not that expensive!

The IXOS DJ1001 Ministry Of Sound Headphones.
They are wonderful. there have been at least two newer versions since i bought mine about 5 years ago - the 1002 and 1003

These are hands-down the best DJ headphones i have ever used. They rival SONY MDR class headphones and cost WAY less. The sound is simply superb - the bass is full and rich and they are quite comfortable. They are not as comfy as the Bose headphones - but they also don't sound like ass*, so that's a nice trade-off!

They are well made - handsome - fairly compact for a set of cans and perfectly capable of pumping out the volume. but they are also designed to resist damage from loud ass preamps so you won't blow your ears out when you crank up the monitor.

basically - these cans are awesome. and i think i paid about $60 for them back in 2002 or 2003. I cant speak for later models, but i am sure they are just as good if not better.

Obviously there are the creme de la creme brands like Sony, sennheiser, bang and olufsen grado etc. but for the price - they really and truly stand proud next to those other brands.

As for in ear headphones - i own a set of etymotic research ER-4 microPro in ear buds. Happens to be one of the nicest things i own...my wife would kill me if she found out how much i paid for them ($300 )

and that was when i was in college and had 0 money... and let me tell you something about them - if i lost or broke them, i'd buy another pair.

Wow - sorry for that huge rant, but i hope this helps! Nice to see people still using cans these days...those apple POS earbuds are a crime against nature.

*nothing against Bose, really - i was just kidding... they are perfectly fine - but if you are going to spend that much, why not get a REAL brand?

Where can I get DJ Headphones?

hotncguy18

Where can I find or buy DJ headphones that cup over your ears?

Answer
Don't settle for Best Buy for DJ headphones. They are for casual listening, and don't bend and flex as good as pro headphones. Depending on your budget you can find tons of DJ headphones at Pro Sound Stage and Lighting.

I would suggest: SONY MDRV500DJ DJ/REMIX HEADPHONES. I have their previous model that I bought ten years ago and I love them. I have been using them ever since. They flip and bend easilly and are very comfortable. The best headphones by far.

Get a good set of headphones, otherwise you are going to buy several pairs throughout your career.

Hope this helps,
Anthony

Good DJ Headphones HELP?

Roberto

Im A Starter. I Know How To DJ But Now Im Actually Gonna Start &Go Out. Any Headphones Ideas? Under 60$ Please. I Really Liked The JVC XTREME XPLOSIVES. Look Nice & Comfortable. Also I Need A SoundCard, Whats A Good Decent Brand/Price.?

Answer
Good proper DJ headphones are all well over $100.

When it comes to DJ gear the one place you should never cheap out is on the headphones. The reason being: when you are trying to beat match two songs with two massive monitors aimed at you and the echo of the main system all around your headphones need to be loud AND clear not just one or the other (or worse neither).

Headphones fall into generally 4 categories:

- Consumer
These are the cheap ear buds and over ears that you find at WalMart and target.

- Fashion
This is just an extension of consumer and includes things like SkullCandy and WeSC. They have large headphones that look like DJ headphones but trust me at the performance volumes they sound terrible. (Performance volumes are the volumes needed when DJing at a party or club which are considerably louder than DJing in your bedroom).

- Audiophile
These are usually really good quality and include brands like Bose, AKG, Sennheiser, Shure and others of that nature. The problem is although the quality is there the volumes aren't and neither is the durability for taking the abuse a DJ will put their headphones through.

(I am not ragging on these headphones, I am wearing a pair of Shure headphones right now as I listen to music at my computer. BUT, I would never use them for DJing).

- DJ
Real DJ headphones fall here and the prices start around $150 (with some exceptions mentioned below). Style wise they are all pretty much all the same silver and black over ear construction but as I said they are designed to be loud AND clear and that is all that matters. DJ Headphones are also durable and foldable because they are often stuffed in record bags and moved around constantly.

During a single one hour set I might take my headphones off and put them back on over 30 times and at the end drop them in my gig bag, as good as they sound and look a set of audiophile headphones like say Dr. Dre Beats would not live up to that beating for very long.

These are examples of proper DJ headphones:
- Allen & Heath XD:53
- Pioneer HDJ-1000's (These are the ones I use right now)
- Pioneer HDJ-2000's (These are pretty much the best that money can buy right now)
- Sony MDR-V700's (These were my last pair until I broke them)
- Technics RP-DH1200's
- Ultrasone DJ1's
- Sennheiser HD-25's (These are actually not classic style DJ headphones but I mention them because a lot of people swear by them)

These brands are hit and miss (may be ok for small venues and parties but I wouldn't use them in a club):
- Reloop
- Numark
- American Audio
- Gemini

If you really want to save money: Pioneer HDJ-500's
They cost about $100 and they are "entry level" DJ headphones. They have Pioneer quality without the usual price tag. (Some stores also have the Sony MDR-V700's for under $100 these days but they were discontinued so they are hard to find)

- DO NOT go any cheaper then the HDJ-500's
- DO NOT buy SkullCandy
- DO NOT shop for DJ headphones anywhere but a pro audio store, if you can buy your groceries in the same store they are not selling professional headphones.

-----

As to your sound card question: M-AUDIO or Native Instruments are both good brands if you mean external.

i want to go to a place were they have tables of headphones all lined up like an apple store or a Microsoft store

Answer
You could go to WalMart, Target, K-Mart to see a selection of headphones (but they will be in sealed cases and you can't try them out).

Or you could go to a high-end audio store and hope they have headphones in your price range (but you should be able to try these headphones out).

Or you could look at lists such as the following based on price-points and buy them over the internet from a reputable dealer, plus you have the option of doing price comparison.

where can you find headphones in a store?

i want cool headohones like these: http://www.instablogsimages.com/images/2009/07/24/headphones2_SIZSZ_25015.jpg
but i need to find dem in a store not online :l sadly

Answer
Well, if you want to find some good headphones at a reasonable or cheap price, then you should check out general electronics stores, like RadioShack or Best Buy/Circuit City. Walmart also carries some interesting headphones like those. I assume you mean the ones that look like DJ headphones... so yeah. Try looking in those places.

Also, some music stores sell instruments along with electronic stuff like recording equipment and producer equipment (such as headphones). Check out yer local music/instrument shops (look fer a Guitar Center or sumn).

I dont know if Target or any other store would normally carry these kind of headphones. The internet is full of them though, ya know...

Good luck.

I am looking for portable headphones where the sound won't leak in and out with good sound quality for the price range.
...and this is for a person who can't wear earbuds.

Answer
As far as sound, it's a matter of preference. But, as far as build quality it's an unfortunate fact that skullcandy breaks easily.

I would recommend some
Koss Portapro's http://www.amazon.com/Koss-PortaPro-Headphones-with-Case/dp/B00001P4ZH/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1249335560&sr=8-1
or
Sennheiser PX 100's http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-PX-100-Collapsible-Headphones/dp/B000089GN3/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1249335504&sr=8-1

They might look weird to you, but they sound AWESOME, especially for the price

Some good companies would be Sennheiser, AKG, or Sony

What are some good headphones for gaming?

miamifinfa

I really cannot afford to buy a good sound system to play with my PS3 and 360, but I'm looking to buy some good headphones to I can experience the sound in my movies and games better. Can you recommend any good headphones that will be PS3 AND Xbox 360 compatible and is less than $100? It doesn't have to be surround sound headphones.....I hear they are overrated and not needed. I appreciate any help.

Answer
They are a little bit over your price range of $100 dollars, but at that price, I know of no better gaming headphone. It's called the Audio Technica ATH-A500. It has superior positioning and soundstage compared to any other headphone within its price range. This headphone is also closed meaning it will block out some sound.

Here's a link to the ATs:
http://www.audiocubes.com/product_info.php?products_id=319

Another choice would be the Sennheiser HD 555. These are a little cheaper, and they perform just as well, but the problem is that they are open headphones. That means sound will leak out and sound will leak in. If you game in a quiet environment, then I recommend you get these, but if you require isolation from noise, like for say a noisy family or a dorm room, then I would much rather go with the Audio Technica ATH-A500.

Here's a link to the Sennheiser:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826106392&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Headphones+/+Headsets+and+Accessories-_-Sennheiser+Electronic+corp.-_-26106392

If it were me, I would get the ATs, because I love them for gaming. When playing FPS, my accuracy is stellar, because I can hear things far away and I can pinpoint them and shoot. This is also assuming your sound source is accurate as well in the first place.

GOOD GAMING HEADPHONES?

Alex

Hi, im looking for some quality gaming headphones under these preferences:
Comfy earmuffs, crystal clear microphone & the microphone doesn't pick up background noise.
I made youtube commentarys and I want a quality headset with an amazing microphone.

Please give me some links on what you recommend, and one last preference.
AUSTRALIAN WEBSITES ONLY MOFOS SO I CAN GET CHEAP SHIPPING :D

Answer
A really good brand is turtle beach sold at EB games, i don't know where else its sold. There are a few commentary's of the product on you tube. This brand is fairly priced and excellent produce excellent headphones, but make sure you get the ones that work on computer, they have a usb thingy most of them do or if you want it for a gaming console most of them can do PS3, Xbox360 and pc,anyway go to www.ebgames.com.au and go search turtle beach and a list of different models of their headphones should show up.
The really good ones cancel back round noise, comfy leather muffs, equalizer (eg.) bass boosting, Crystal clear microphone, also sensitive for that time where you don't want you parents to know your awake (experience).
Eb games Australia link : http://www.ebgames.com.au/
Turtle Beach link : http://www.turtlebeach.com/
NOTE: if you are getting it in ebgames they only have a few models and run out fairly quickly so you might have to pre-order them.

How to plug headphones into Xbox 360?

Bryce

Kinda confusing but... I have a Xbox 360 (original/not slim) plugged into a Asus monitor. The monitor doesn't have a headphone jack in it, and doesn't have speakers, so I was wondering how could I get any sound out of my Xbox.

Answer
You don't enter the headphones into the actual XBOX system. Look closely at your controller. We normally play with the controller strait up, but flip it just a little bit and before you get to the pack with your batteries in it, you will find a small hole where your headphones can go. If not, then you have turned it the wrong way so try it the other way lol.

Are headphones for XBox 360 just for Live use?

laney_lily

My son is driving me nuts! He has the volume up all the time on his 360! The Xbox came with a head set but I think they are just for use on Live. I want just a set of headphones for him so the rest of us don't have to listen to his game. We don't have Live because our internet is too slow. I just don't want to hear his games. Does anyone have an answer for me???

Answer
Sorry, the headset is for xbox live only.

There maybe system headphones available somewhere. You should contact Microsoft xbox support or go to your local game store.

Also, if you have a receiver you should be able to plug a standard 3.5mm headphone into the receiver. Some TVs also support headphones.

Sennheiser HD595 Headphone problem.?

Josh

Hello. i had these for quite a long time. But about 2 or 3 years ago an accident happened and the wire's disconnected. I have no idea how to fix them, all i want to know is if it is fixable. How would i know between fixable and broken completely. the left ear cup does work. i plugged it in and it's all fine. is that a good sign?
Thank you.

Answer
Well, cause I'm on Yahoo answers...I can't fix them for you. But you are saying the cable on the left side disconnected? If the left channel works, it means that the right channel has been damaged; the copper the unit for the right channel has been slightly torn or tugged at. For this you need to open them up.

http://cdn.head-fi.org/0/03/0335497b_DSCN05631.jpeg

It should look like this. Just open them up and check.

Why wont my ipod touch play music in the left headphone?

natesha g

Answer
Test with other earphones/headphones to see if they work or not.
It may be the settings in your Equalizer or the songs you've chosen are set to Mono and only work on one ear for some reason.
Mix it up a little bit.
Test with other earphones/headphones or reset your whole iPod to factory settings if you won't be harmed by losing your games, apps, pictures, music, and/or videos.

If none of those work, then your iPod touch may have problems within.
don't try to fix it yourself, have a professional or person who's knowledgeable of it, or just send it into Apple or an Apple Store.

P.S DO NOT TRY TO FIX IT YOURSELF if your iPod is broken.
Whether you know it or not, don't even go on Youtube to look up troubleshooting tutorials, leave it alone and wait until it's fixed!

How can I test earphone sound quality?

Daniel Gar

Is there any specific songs that test headphones for different sounds
Like acoustic, bass , treble, hi's mids lows.
In other words how "pure" the sound is, thanks

Answer
Its mostly personal preference...just like people like different types of music different headphones will appeal to different people...not everyone hears the same...some people will concentrate on the bass others a clear Midrange is what turns them on....in fact most people will concentrate on the midrange to determine the clarity of the sound...as long as the bass is there they are not as concerned with the clarity of the bass...Often times what will separate a good headphone from a poor one is the clarity of the bass, and treble, not everyone hears the same either... a lot of it has to do with comfort too... people have different shaped ears and heads so the fit and comfort of the head phone has a lot to do with weather you like the sound or not....headphones can be measured using test tones, a computer, microphone and programing for lack of distortion, but the funny thing is that the headphone with the least amount of distortion is not always the one that sounds the best.....also most people are unable to hear low levels of distortion and may even mistake IM distortion for spaciousness or a larger sound stage...and other things like that will occur usually a hot top end and exaggerated bass will appeal to people right off the bat but over time these things become fatiguing....a neutral headphone with low distortion will probably sound dull and unexciting at first but over time you will appreciate the sound as you will be able to listen for longer periods of time without fatigue....recorded live classical music is the music that is usually recorded the best with the least amount of distortion yet how many people do you know that prefer to listen to classical music? Usually you want to listen to some kind of live acoustic music guitar; flute standing bass that's been recoded well, a recording of a group that you arr familiar with and have heard in a live setting or preferably were there when the recording was made... would also be good...because you need some kind of referance point.....to determine how acurate the headphone is...any diviation form the exact live sound is distortion....

home recording studio?

Kevin R

Alright so my gf loves to sing and now that we have our own house i want to surprise her with a room of her own so she can record herself and i can record my acoustic and electric guitar. I want to record to a desktop. I already have a very good desktop computer but what other hardware wil i need. Will i need a mixing board remember this is basic stuff im not planning to make my own tracks just guitar and vocals. Will i need an audio interface. Basically my question is how can i get the music into the computer.

Answer
Audio interface, a decent microphone, some studio headphones, the appropriate cables and whatnot, and a decent program for it.

As far as the audio interface goes, if you follow one of the links in the other answer you'll see that one of the options is the Lexicon Alpha. I'm using that myself, and I am very impressed with the quality of it. It's a great unit at a very cheap price! Just make sure you install the ASIO drivers for it, those are the best quality drivers for that product.

I highly recommend the Shure SM58. Great vocal mic, about 100$, worth every cent. Very rugged too, it's the de facto standard for stage work. Almost every gig I've played at the house has a beat up SM58 for a house mic that they've had for years - you know, the one people have dropped off the stage, puked on, spilled their drinks on, thrown around, and it still somehow works? Yeah. This is a great mic to start with, and may be the only one she'll need for a long time. At some point you guys'll probably want to step up to a condenser mic, but they are more fragile and do require phantom power (and cost a bit more). Do this first, and if she wants to step up later, do it as a christmas gift or something. =) Go ask the guys at Guitar Center, do some googling, or even feel free to email me to learn more about condenser mics before you decide to get one though!

You'll need good studio quality headphones. "Studio" just means the frequency response is flat so you hear your voice naturally, normal headphones are EQ'd to make music sound big and boomy, and if you use a normal set of headphones voices will sound different vs when you play them back over a stereo or something.

There are many ways to go for programs - Audacity is a good free program, but it is very very basic. I like Reaper, which is also basically free, but it takes some time to learn how to use it if you've never used anything like it before (no bells and whistles, exactly how I like it). There are many very good quality programs out there - Reason, Cubase, N-Track Studio, etc. The USB interface may even come with one!

Um, yeah. That's about it. Your computer will need USB ports, and should support USB 2.0 to do this correctly, or alternatively there are Firewire interfaces too. Don't do USB 1.0, make sure your computer can support USB 2.0 or Firewire, and go with one of those (better quality).

Good luck, and don't forget the mic stand! =)

A central element for my home studio?

Darek

I've been interested in home recording for two years. I have recorded some songs and voiceovers in my little home studio. Apart from sound isolation the setup is as follows:

condenser mic -> tube preamp -> audio interface -> computer + SONAR and few VST plugins.

Now, I'm starting to think of enhancing my little studio and making it semi-professional. As I'm not very much of a pro I seek advice on what should be the central element of my new setup.

I've read about mixers but I'm surely unaware of many things that perhaps seem too obvious to anyone writing reviews etc. In short, I'm looking for a device that would enable me to (this is going to sound ignorant, sorry):

- connect more than one mic/instrument to the input,
- regulate volume and basic eq for each of them,
- plug in a few pairs of headphones and monitors and be able to turn them on/off separately,
- connect it to the compuer via USB to skip the audio interface,

I imagine I just need some kind of a mixer. I hate to admit it but I'm on a limited budget.
Yes, I know that good quality comes at a price, but there's just no way around it - the cheaper the better, or, say, the better value for money the better.

Any suggestions as to what should I buy?

Answer
if you are recording through your computer, a mixer is not really needed at all. all of the essential mixing is done "inside the box". if anything you would want a control surface for the software you are using. for example, digidesign makes the 'control 24' which is a mixer for protools. a mixer like this controls the software. so when you move a fader on the mixer, you can see the same assigned fader move in your computer. this is nice, but doesn't really matter because its doing the same thing you are doing with your mouse and keyboard. old school guys like it because they would rather actually move a fader than click the mouse and drag.

you can also use a mixer and use your software strictly as a recorder. so you would use the inputs and everything from the mixer, then take the outputs of those channels into your software. the mixer wont control the software, but will allow you to use the faders and such to get the sounds, then record them into your software. again, its nice, but really isn't needed.

mixers are nice for people to see when they come over, but really you could make a good argument that they are worthless now. i would love to get a control 24 for my protools rig, but that'll run $20.000 or something outragous like that.

you can probably find a mixer that you can use to connect via USB to your computer. my guess is that it will be pretty expensive, and it may not cooperate with the software you currently use. do some research before buying something like that.

you could get a bigger interface which would allow you to connect more things. the volume, and eq would be controlled on each track within the software you use. i think the Mbox has 4 inputs or something, and comes with protools. there are also various other interfaces that have a lot more inputs that may work for you.

what you want to add really depends on what you record. if you do a lot of vocal stuff, you may want to get some plug-ins, or an auto-tune or something. for hip-hop maybe a sampler, or some loop software.

you can never have enough mics. you could look into purchasing another good quality mic. for vocals and or acoustic, i really like the Rode NT1a ($240).

you could get some outboard gear like a good quality reverb unit. outboard gear like that requires space, so think about that. you can probably get some good plug-ins for the same price and not waste any space.

you could also upgrade your software. i'm not familiar with sonar, so i can't say whats better or anything, but it may be something to look at. if you eventually want to get into professional recording, invest in protools. you can take the files to professional studios and use their consoles to mix if you have protools.

if i had some extra cash i'd invest in a small tape machine. i really like the sound of tape, and for me it'd be a nice addition. depending on what your doing and familiar with, this may or may not be a good investment for you.

hopefully that helps, if not contact me, and i can try to explain further, or answer any other questions

good luck

Can you wear overear headphones under a motorcycle helmet?

I have a motorcycle helmet (that I usually use while dirt biking) I was wondering if it is possible for me to fit a pair of headphones under the helmet?

I'm dirtbiking, not diring a motorcycle (so I know it isn't illegal when dirtbiking) if it isn't possible (is it possible for me to take apart the headphones and somehow put them inside the helmet?

Here's the helmet I have : http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0089GB3X0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=19IJN752DA8TG&coliid=INU9G510IY18N

I don't like using ear buds because they bug the crap out of me.

Answer
Sure, you'll need to dismantle the headphones without disrupting any of the lead wires to each speaker because the bar that holds them won't fit inside the helmet or at least not comfortably.

If you're talking motorized dirt-bike riding be aware that you may need to turn the volume up to ear damaging levels to hear the music over the sound of the engine though.

what are the best headphones for using with a motorcycle helmet?

ms_whitie

i ride with a full faced helmet and im looking for a good set of earphones that offer some noise isolation and comfort that doesnt get in the way and is affordable
yes BESIDES the illegal issue trust me most of us ride with an mp3 player in one ear on low..... ii asked the questions for specific answers not advice thanks

Answer
ms_whitie,

I am currently using SHURE E2C headphones. They are about $75 shipped(msrp is $99). They fit in my ears well and is almost flushed. The package comes with 3 sets of different sized silicone/rubber type cushions and 3 more sets of orange foam type cushions. Within those 6 sets, I'm sure you'll be able to find one that fits properly. They are setup so that the cord wrap around your ears and hang behind your back. But you don't have to use it like that if you don't want to. These earbuds also come with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty.

I use these earbuds with my Sandisk Sansa mp3 player on long rides and short commute to work. I also use them when jogging. Even if I have the mp3 player turned off, I leave these earbuds in because they help cancel out windnoise(which is very bad for your hearing over time, seriously).

Now, depending on how tight your helmet is, it will take a little finesse in order to get the helmet on without pulling the cord/earbuds out. But it really is not rocket science. You just put the helmet on slowly and can hold the earbuds in with a thumb. Not a huge deal unless you're really impatient.

I hope this helped you out. I've read countless reviews and tried other less expensive earbuds before these. The Sony ones I paid $50 for sucked! The cords was thin and flimsy and started peeling after a month of use. The $15 Koss ones protruded way too much to pull a helmet over.

Do iLuv headphones mic work on computer?

Hunter

It says it has a built-in microphone, but has a single cord. How do I use the mic and audio parts at the same time on a computer?

Answer
Well, I was confused at this on first but figured it out. I don't know about your computer, but I use a Windows 7, and it has a section to plug in your microphone, and one for your headphones. Open up an audio recorder, I use Audacity, and plug your headphones into the microphone outlet. Change your microphone preference to what your's is called. Mine was 'Microsoft Sound Mapper - Input.' Then start recording your voice, and try to speak loudly, or else your voice will be super quiet. The bad thing I found out about this, is when it's plugged into the microphone outlet, you can't hear anything. So to listen to your recording, you then need to put the cord in the headphone outlet.

If you are doing commentary for a game, or you'd like to talk to your friends, I'd say you should just get a different microphone. Maybe a different one, like an actual microphone. I ordered a Blue Snowball Microphone, because my voice is hard to pick up unless you talk really loudly, and even then your voice is just normal. So yes, it's possible but it's hard to pick up your voice, and you can't listen to audio while recording audio, at least how I explained here.

Hope this helped.

whats the difference between noise canceling and sound isolating headphones?

ZakariaI

Answer
Noise canceling is usually when the headphones have an external microphone to listen to your environments noise, then produces a sound of equal frequency to cancel out the outside noise (two of the same frequency's cancel each other out). Noise isolating just uses padding and soundproofing on the headphones and cushion to block out the exterior noise.

Noise Canceling are usually better, but more expensive.(Bose usually uses this - which explains their price)

Nowadays, many headphones especially in-ear are noise isolating headphones. They just use materials that don't let sound transfer through easily to isolate your inner ear form the outside, hence, blocking out a good majority.

Are there headphones that cancel outside noise very well?

Bobby

I mean noise of cars, boom boxes, kids bouncing balls on the streets, skateboards and so on...

Answer
Yes, there are two types: Passive noise cancellation (PNC) and Active noise cancellation (ANC).

Active noise cancelling uses electronics to disable sound, more-so the lower noises, something like 500Hz and under. Depending on how good the noise cancelling microphone is, ANC usually gives something like 25-40dB of noise cancellation. A good example of passive noise cancelling headphones would be the Audio-Technica ATHANC-7.

Passive noise cancelling is more associated with earbuds, which make a tight seal around the ear canal to block out ambient noise. The noise cancelling properties aren't limited to only the low frequencies. Some earbuds only give around 20dB of isolation, while canalphones can offer up to 40dB of isolation. A good example of noise cancelling earbuds are Etymotic MC-5.

iPhone/iPod headphone with mic not working?

Kyle

I just bought some $30 headphone/mic combo for the iPhone/iPod, and the mic seems to have issues. Is there a control or something to activate or deactivate it? It has worked before, done this, then worked again (not sure how). My iPod recognizes there is a mic, but not feedback.
They're Apple headphones. All the buttons work, just no recording.

Answer
Mic works only on 32G and 64G iPod Touch as far as I know. But if you're on an iPhone, it should work fine.
