Headphones play sound but no vocals!?

Spooky~<3

Ok, well I've had these Panasonic headphones for a little over a year now..
and in the past few days I've noticed that you can barely hear the vocals and some of the lead guitar, yet still have sound blowing out of both headphones. I've also noticed that if i hold the part that plugs into the ipod and move it around a bit I can hear the sound clearly again.
Is there anything I can do to fix this permanently?
Because i personally don't want to shell out another $60 in headphones, and I've essentially grown really fond of my current set..

so..is there anything I can do?

Answer
try som electrical contact cleaner or white spirits to clean the plug and socket dont use a cotton bud in the female socket on the ipod. plug in and out a few times with the male fitting wet this might clean the contacts

Broken Skullcandy headphones?

Hitogee Ha

They're not completely broken, I can hear the background music, but the vocals sound far away and the echo. I was wondering if this is common and/or fixable. Anything helps, thank-you.

Answer
All skull candy headphones come with a lifetime warranty. just go here http://www.skullcandy.com/warranty and submit your claim. As long as you know when you bought your headphones you should be fine to return them for the same price you bought them. Lemme warn you it does take awhile, but it is worth the new pair of headphones. You also might want to try plugging them in somewhere else, it could possibly be your music player headphone jack that could be broken.

Suggest me a skullcandy Headphones under $60?

Michael Ja

Looking for a durable Headphones which won`t break, cause i use to drop it on floor quite often.

Pleas keep in mind though that i don`t wanna amount more than $55 - 60,
Please suggest me a good one im really confused to choose one from tons of different models.

TIA

Answer
Have a look at sony xb500's. I know their not skullcandys but their amazing headphones that are really strong, have amazing bass and just overall great sound quality.
They might not look at good as skullcandys but they are much better for what headphones are made for....sound.

Decent in ear headphones under £60?

cricket 46

Hey guys, anyone know any in ear headphones that sound good for under £60 (i dont mind if they are used or new) that five clear sound quality and good bass. Thanks

Answer
Sennheiser HD 448 is padded, and the padding around the ears is very comfortable - something that not all headphone manufacturers are able to achieve. The cord goes into just one side, rather than splitting to go into both, and this makes taking them on or off a lot easier.

Best Headphones for Rock/Metal punk music?

Kevin

So im really hoping to find a good pair of headphones that sound really good with the genres of Nu-metal, Alternative, Rock, Punkrock.

Max budget would be around $300 and some headphones ive already tried which i think are good but cant be sure are the Bose qc15's and bose ae2w's.

I love the noise cancelling on the qc15's even though im not a frequent traveler, its a nice feature, and the bluetooth is nice on the ae2w's but i dont know bout the 7hour battery life, Ae2ws sound ok with the kinda music i listen to and I couldnt try the qc15's since at best buy i cant plug my own phone into them

Other wise lots of people say the Vmoda m100's have good bass and crisp clear highs and lows

Any other headphones out there that you can possibly recommend that sound good with the music i like? maybe a link to a youtube review

Answer
I would send you in the direction of the V Moda...they are a safe bet for your taste in music.

You might want to have a look at the Denon AH-D600 though...great price right now, not the best option for 'portability'...it's a big solid heavy headphone and worth a mention.

http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/headphones/denon-ah-d600-review-50010746/

Just to support the answer below...I personally use the Sennheiser HD25 ii and occasionally plug them into the Sony MW600 bluetooth headset - it isn't the most stylish of headphones and paired with the MW600 it isn't that expensive...the sound is amazing. I tend not to recommend my own cans unless it is stressed that they don't care about styling and durability is more important...that's exactly why I chose them. The sound isolation on the HD25 is pretty good too.

what are the best headphones for rock music?

Answer
for rock music look into Grado headphones.. the sony's mentioned above are a bass heavy headphone that work better with rap and techno

Upgrading to Android 2.3...how does it work?!?

Jessica Fu

Ok, so i've got TONS of questions, but here it goes:

1.) If, for example, I buy the LG Revolution, will you be able to upgrade it straight from the phone you already have, or do you have to buy the newer version that comes with the 2.3 ?

2.) What are the differences?

3.) Will it cost anything to upgrade? If so, how much?

Answer
The LG Revolutions is sold with Froyo 2.2, and is immediately upgradeable to Gingerbread 2.3.

Differences between Gingerbread and Froyo are:

System: Updated user interface design for simplicity and speed
Display: Support for extra-large screen sizes and resolutions (WXGA and higher)
Internet calling: Native support for SIP VoIP telephony
Virtual Keyboard: Faster, more intuitive text input, improved accuracy, better suggested text. Voice input mode
Copy/Paste: Enhanced. Select a word by press-hold, copy, and paste.
Near Field Communication lets the user read an NFC tag embedded in a poster, sticker, or advertisement.
New audio effects such as reverb, equalization, headphone virtualization, and bass boost
System: Improved power management with a more active role in managing apps that are keeping the device awake for too long.
Download Manager gives the user easy access to any file downloaded from the browser, email, or another application.
Camera: Access multiple cameras on the device, including a front-facing camera, if available.
Media: Support for WebM/VP8 video playback, and AAC audio encoding
System: Enhanced support for native code development
Audio, graphical, and input enhancements for game developers
Concurrent garbage collection for increased performance
Native support for more sensors (such as gyroscopes and barometers)
Switched from YAFFS to the ext4 filesystem

The update is free. You just need an internet connection. Try asking for help in updating the phone immediately after buying ir for assurance.

Is there a way to 'split audio' from my headphones and HDMI outputs?

soein777

For example, have a video playing on a tv via HDMI and have the audio come out of the tv, and play a video game on my laptop and have the audio come out my laptop's headphones/speakers?
Another way of putting it would be assign programs to different audio outputs.

Is that possible or is there a program that allows this?

Answer
No, you can't have multiple audio outs on the same device without extra hardware - it's not designed for that. Well, except possibly for virtualization, and even then I expect the process to be finicky at best.

car fm transmitter?

Ross Patik

Is any one can tell me the different between to use a memory chip player transmitter on the car instead to have a complicated wiring stereo installed.

Answer
I found the best thing since sliced bread...http://www.crutchfield.com/S-9oDEWuNVIo6/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=142FMMOD01

It's not wireless. It basically add an AUX port to any radio.

It feeds your audio signal from a headphone jack ( or RCA cables) by FM modulation, directly into the antenna input on your radio bypassing the antenna when on, allowing the radio to work as normal when off. It comes with an On/Off switch.

This IS the answer. Totally versatile.

best mp3 FM Transmitter?

maxerr04

I want my MP3 Player to be able to be used on my truck's radio, and in my home stereo. I need a transmitter that dosn't have long range, since I don't need it. But I want good sound quality. I need it to plug into the headphone jack. Thanks

Answer
Belkin FM transmitter comes with lifetime warranty.

I bought it when it first came out for $40, and it broke once; Belkin happily replaced it without a question asked, plus they paid for the shipping charge.

you should able to get them on ebay for 15-20.

Need some headphones for my guitar amp.?

Going to uni and so just in case I end up disturbing anyone, probably should get some headphones for my amp. Don't want to spend much as hopefully I'll only need to use them at night and also I can already see that student debt building up.

Don't really want to spend much more than £50, but I'm not sure how good a quality you can get for that, so suggestions above that price are welcome :)

Cheers.

Answer
For your budget, these are a good purchase:

Able Planet NC300 Soft Touch

"This over-the-ear model from Able Planet provides very good sound quality and very good active noise reduction. Overall, these headphones have a warm character, with bass that has good impact but so-so definition. With midrange frequencies, we detected a plastic resonance; otherwise, midrange was articulate, though a bit muffled and lacking in fine detail. Treble was detailed but recessed. The headphones were very closed-in sounding, with average dynamics. These headphones sound better with the noise-canceling circuitry engaged--when turned off, overall sound drops to good, as bass becomes very prominent, boomy, and less defined, and midrange becomes less articulate, more muffled, and less detailed. These headphones are generally comfortable, and were lightweight for their type; there was light pressure around ears. The vinyl ear pads, which provide a combination on/over-the-ear fit, can feel cramped to those with bigger ears, and might hot and/or sticky after prolonged use. It has an integrated volume control, and comes with carrying case, a detachable cord, a miniplug-to1/4-inch plug adapter, and a miniplug-to-airplane adapter."

Sony MDR-NC500D, Bose QuietComfort 15 and Monster Beats by Dr. Dre "Studio" are a notch bettr but cost 3-4 times your budget.

I don't know if the Able (or the higher end models) is sold in the UK though, I only saw it on Amazon USA for 75$.

The top headphone is the Grado SR80i and fits your budget but the sound leaks, I don't think you want that.

Which headphones should I get for my guitar amp?

toxicbeam

I have a Peavey Transtube Solo electric guitar amp. One of the features it has is that it provides a headphone jack. Ive tried putting my ipod, psp, and various other headphones into this jack but no sound comes out of the headphones.

I was told this was because it requires headphones of the right impedance. So I was wondering which headphones would work for my guitar amp? A link would also be appreciated.

Answer
Go to www.PEAVY.com.I saw the manual and they say that any regular headphones will works.Did your speaker mute when you connect the headphones? If so,then you have a lose wire(the ground wire) of the headphone output jack(inside the amp).

Speakers still working while headphones are plugged in?

Kiwi_LM

Whenever I plug my headphones into my laptop, the usual happens: the headphones work instead of the external speakers. However, just now, the speakers randomly started working while the headphones are plugged in. Why is this happening, and is there a way of getting it back to normal?

Answer
Headphone jack may be dirty and fail to disconnect speakers. (or connection to headphone jack is not good or plugged in completely)
clean out jack with compressed air or a very small spritz of tuner cleaner

What are the best workout headphones?

leveykid95

Are any of the Sennheisers (link: http://www.sennheiserusa.com/sport-headphones-earbuds-Sennheiser-adidas) better than the others? Are there any others you would recommend? Under $100 & fairly unobtrusive - not pushing into the back of my head if I'm on a bench - would be great.
Thanks.

Answer
Hi,

I wonder if you have thought of in-ear headphones? they can be very comfortable and provide great noise isolation - i.e. I got myself some for going to the gym and they are ideal as i play the music on my ipod and even without music i can only barely hear the awful music usually playing there.

i went for etymotic er-6i phones which may not be manufactured any more, but for 100 dollars you would get an excellent pair. check out http://www.headphone.com/headphones/in-ear.php for some ideas.

just a suggestion :)
cheers, Jim.

over ear headphones for under 50?

dyllan c

i found a few headphones i liked and wanted to know which to buy it is between audio-technica ath-m40fs and skullcandy hesh i only got around 50 bucks so yeh and i wanted to know if there was others maybe better or which one of these are better

Answer
I got these headphones a couple years ago due to an obnoxious roommate who loved blasting music on his stereo.. still got them and they're great.

They are listed at around $80 on Amazon, but this link is for $46 and they are supposedly new.

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-SONY-MDR-V6-V6-STEREO-MONITOR-PRO-HEADPHONES-/170609351282?pt=Other_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item27b91c1a72#ht_4529wt_1139

Of the two you listed, I'd probably go with the Audio-Technica; I've had bad experiences with Skullcandy headphones, and the reviews for the ath-m40fs seem to be pretty good in general.

looking for the best headphones under $50?

Joey

I'm looking for the best headphones (not ear buds) for under fifty bucks. I've tried the JLab headphones and wasn't quite satisfied, any suggestions?

Answer
Hi. um for $50, i think the best thing you can get is Audio-Technica ATH-M30. :D

http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M30-Professional-Closed-back-Headphones/dp/B00007E7C8/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&tag=informazcom-20

Audio technica is known for their quality and this headset has more than 1000 reviews with 4.5 overall rating out of 5.

oh and JLab brand is really cheaply made xD you can't compare with audio technica.

How to set up computer for USB microphone?

lanceneume

Bought a USB microphone so that the kids can sing karaoke using my laptop, tv, and surround sound. I am having trouble with the set-up, specifically running the output from the laptop to my surround sound receiver.

When playing strictly music from my laptop to the surround sound, I run a cord from the headphone jack on my laptop to the receiver. However, when I have the microphone plugged in, this isn't working. The only way I got it to work is to run that cord from the headphone jack on the microphone to the receiver, which works fine - but am severely limited because of the length of that cord.

Is there a way to set it up so that I can run the cord from the headphone jack on the laptop to the receiver, instead of running it from the microphone headphone jack to the receiver?

Answer
usb is nice and convenient but whatever you plug into computer needs drivers. did you install them for the microphone? does microphone show in Device Manager? Does Device Manager show red or yellow flag over it?

What headphones should I get under $100?

James

I REALLY love sound. That being said, I was thinking about getting high quality headphones. I also plan on buying some games online, sooo hopefully the headphones you suggest won't go over $85-90 or so. So I heard about companies like V-MODA, Sennheiser, Etymotic, Shure, etc. Is Etymotic good? I've heard claims about crystal clear audio from $20 headphones, but let's be serious, it's not the crystal clear you would hear as if you were there yourself listening to the music. I want like HD Sound. I really care about the highs in music, and I hope that I can get some durable, quality headphones. I would also like some punchy bass.
I prefer earbuds, because of the portability, however sometimes they give you headaches.
Or I could get headphones.

Please don't suggest BOSE, Beats, Skullcandy, or anything too overpriced for what it's worth.

Answer
I am thinking that earbuds are the best bang for the buck, I am not sure but maybe. I recommend B&W C5 earbuds, RHM ma 350 earbuds to be the only two you consider. When you look them up you will know why. As far as headphones, Shure, Sennheiser all the one's you listed should be your A team but its hard to settle on one because of so many variables. You will have to listen and read from trusted sources to make a good choice. What I have done, is homed in on two earbuds and two headphones and then I am done with it. I have an old Bose Triport headphone that has seen its better days, so I am looking at Grado alongside the Bose. The Reid and Heath Audio solution is a good one for a second pair of earbuds. Then I have a range of sound that I can listen to based on my location and my mood, to me that is the best of both worlds. I would be remissed to not mention my choice of head gear is directly connected to High Resolution Technologies (HRT) Digital Audio Converter (DAC) or Audioengine D1 (DAC) to do the lifting for whatever set I choose. They do a marvelous job, don't knock any of them until you try them.

My suggestions with these brands are for three reasons. They honor their warranty of 2-3 years without hassel, which is good for earbuds. The headphones, in this case Grado can figure it out and I believe they have the company culture and pride to seek remedy and solution if their product doesn't live up to billing because they have a highly respected brand in doing so. Bottomline they hold up, you can purchase them and move on to the next. Start with Reid and Heath Audio then B&W take your time it will be hard to get a better situation out here.

Best.
