Trying to replace headphone plug?

falken231

The wire comming from my headphones have 3 wires different colors (gold, blue, red)

The new plug im using only has 2 wires (gold and red)

I tried putting red to red and gold to gold.. no sound. I tried just about every combination and nothing. any help?

Answer
You need a stereo plug for your headphones.
The plug your trying to use is only mono!

how to use headphones with an amp with no headphones plug?

Q. Can it be done? I play guitar late into the night and don't want to disturb others.
I want to buy the Vox AC4TV amp and it has no headphone jack.

Answer
Sorry but that model does not have the ability to plug in a pair of headphones to listen.
One option you have is to go ahead and purchase the Vox AC4TV amp for when you want to be heard without headphones. Then also purchase a VOX Headphone Amp for private listening.
Check out the VOX Headphone Amps at http://www.voxamps.com/us/amplug/

A second possible option is to visit http://www.amptone.com/under20wamps.htm to find another low power amp that has a headphone jack. Search that page for the word "headphone".

Good luck.

I want to buy sennheisers HD 800's?

Michael

After saving money for several months, i have the money to buy sennheiser's HD 800's. The only problem is i dont really know anything about this stuff, i love listening to music, i do it while studying and doing homework and writing. I want a good experience, but i was reading on some places that i might need to buy an amp(?). I also need to buy an adapter i think because my laptop onlly has a 3.5mm jack. I really dont know what im getting myself into if i buy these cuz i might not even have the other required things to truly enjoy them. Can anyone provide me some insight?

Answer
Yes, many high-end headphones do need a separate amplifier for portable/small audio device in order to produce a fuller, richer sound. The best option would be to ask from a store that sells Sennheisers, the experts should know whether you need an amp for this particular Sennheiser model.

sennheiser hd 800 headphones ? i'm thinking of buying it. But, is it worth 1500$s ?

Tyler

any suggestions or any better options ?

Answer
Well, it's depend on how serious you are in listening to music.

In general, the more money you spend on a pair of headphones, the more you experience the law of diminishing returns. A handsome-sounding AKG K701 will impress most people with their command of classical, while a good Grado rocks as well as any phone out there. But each headphone has its unique sound, and limitations. That's why many dedicated headphone users like keeping at least two different models to complement different musical spectra.

The Senn HD800 comes the closest to my experience at producing a sound that would satisfy a variety of tastes - in one headphone. The sound complements classical and jazz, but renders rock and electronica with surprising authority. I listen to a variety of music in a single listening session, so the HD800 is also extremely convenient. Although somewhat hefty, they're well-padded and have a velvety comfortability. Even in hot weather, these phones are cool and easy to wear; unlike some phones, these provide a pleasing sound without the use of an amplifier (though a good amp will make most decent setups even better.) It's hallmark clarity is bolstered by its sound: anchored by a full bass, crystalline highs, and a midrange that has definition without being too forward.

Nook HD+ or Kindle Fire HD?!?

Q. I'm only looking to spend around $200.00 total! I can't seem to choose between Nook or Kindle!
I need:
Books/Audio Books
Magazines
internet
music
Movies/TV shows

I don't know much about computers, but I love to read! Also is it cheaper to buy one of these and then buy books for them. Or is it cheaper to just buy plain old books!
I also like audio books! Which one has them which one doesn't! Better quality/ battery life!

Easy points! Please no rude comments! =]

Also do headphones come with either one?

Answer
Kindle Fire HD would be preferable.
- It has over 100k audio books,
- Front facing HD camera
- Amazon has better prices when it comes to books
- Services on Amazon like, free cloud storage and prime membership
- 16Gb space

Headphones help....?

360 pwnz

I need good headphones that i can buy in canada...

1) Good base
2) Good Sound quality
3) I like the volume to go up pretty high
4) headphones that dont go around your head the other ones that you get with your i pod..
5) Lime green and white..

What Should I get?
where should i get them from?
they should be reasonably cheap around 20 - 30 bucks
base has to be awsome

Answer
I don't know about the "lime green and white" bit, but Consumer Reports listed the Panasonic RP-HC55 insert headphones as a best buy - very good sound, excellent outside noise reduction. The U.S. list price is $60, so the Canadian list price would be about $75. The only other one in their short list would be the Koss QZ77, with good sound and excellent noise reduction, also an insert. Price $50 USD, about $63 CAD.

A word of warning - don't play any headphones or speakers too loud, or you risk permanent hearing damage. And once it's gone, you can never get it back.

what are the best headphones to workout in?

Candy S

the ear bud kinds kind of hurt my ears so do you know of good over ear ones?

Answer
Hey, Candy S

There is a wide range of headphones available on the market currently, and for the most part, the quality of the sound and craftmanship will depend on the price that you are willing to spend. On the lower price range (less than $50), you will be able to find some no too shabby headphones that will be suitable for somebody who is just planning to listen to music on their iPod or computer, and are not full fledged audiophiles. Once you get to the medium price range ($50-150), you will get a good selection of very high quality headphones that are going to be suitable for nearly everyone who is not involved with music professionally. The quality of these headphones are going to be suberb, should cancel out almost all background noise, and will be of a quality craftmanship that will last for a very long time. On the expensive end of things ($150 and up), you are going to get into professional quality headphones. For the normal person this will be a bit too much as they provide a quality of sound that is amazing, but is generally only sought after by professionals that are working on their own music (or the kinds of consumers who make sure their house is hooked up with the best speaker systems on the market).

Depending on how much you are willing to spend, my top five recommendations (from cheapest to most expensive) would have to be:

Sennheiser HD 202 II Professional

http://headphones.respectablereviews.com/sennheiser-hd-202-ii-professional/

This model provides good insulation against background noise and has a solid bass range and response time. Perfect for somebody wanting a cheap set of quality headphones.

Sennheiser RS120

http://headphones.respectablereviews.com/sennheiser-rs120/

These are quite affordable for wireless headphones. They feature an open-ear system with a strong bass response. Because they're wireless, you don't even have to be in the same room as the device that is transmitting the sound, giving you ultimate range while listening to music. Very lightweight and a high quality. I have this set for use around my house.

Sennheiser HD280 Professional

http://headphones.respectablereviews.com/sennheiser-hd-280-pro/

These are well into the midrange quality headphones. This set is corded, but provides much better sound quality than the RS120. They can provide up to 32 dB attenuation of outside noise, so you do not have to worry about much from background noise, even in somewhat noisy environments.

Beats by Dr. Dre Solo HD

http://headphones.respectablereviews.com/beats-by-dr-dre-solo-hd/

These are on the high-end spectrum of headphones. They are quite comfortable and can produce an amazing sound quality. If you're looking for something that is "in-style" and provides you with some of the best sounds that you can find at this price range, these are the headphones for you.

Bose Quietcomfort 15

http://headphones.respectablereviews.com/bose-quietcomfort-15/

I use this set when I am playing live shows. They are some of the best headphones you can get at the moment, are very comfortable while wearing for many hours at a time (even in hot, sweaty clubs), block out almost all background noise and provide nearly unmatched sound quality. For somebody looking for professional quality headphones, or with a big budget wanting to get the best money can buy, these are the headphones for you.

Overall, the most important thing while choosing the headphones, is the consider what you will be using them for and do not over estimate how much headphone-power you will need. If you're looking for something to use on the ride to work or just while you're hanging out, listening to music, you probably do not need top of the line Bose. Good luck, Candy S, and I hope you find the perfect set!

Blackberry Or Iphone?

NaNaNiii

Answer
Well it depends.

I've owned both (well there's so many models of the Blackberry so I think you will need to specify which model you're looking to buy over the iPhone) and have to say the iPhone is the better one indeed but I prefer Blackberry phones when it comes to texting, emailing, and IM since they keyboard is just so small yet so awesome. Also the Blackberry requires the Blackberry Data Plan which lets you use their Blackberry Servers (Either Internet or Enterprise) so you can get your email as soon as they are sent, and you can access their services like the Blackberry App World and Blackberry Messenger. Playing music on the Blackberry is as good as on the iPhone but without the nice Cover Flow or drag and scroll interface (the Storm and Storm 2 does have that but it's not as good as the iPhone's). Most recent BB's have a standard headphone jack (I've never tried out the old BB's like the Curve 8330 though) and I can assure you that every Blackberry from the Curve 8520 and up have a standard headphone jack (so you can use your favorite headphones). Playing videos on a Blackberry is just great especially on the Curve 8900, Bold 9000, and Bold 9700. Most recent BB's can record videos and take pictures and some have Flash capability. The Blackberry also has a App Store called the App World and you can get various games, tools, productivity apps, and all from there. There's around 1,000 apps available and they're pretty good.

The iPhone in the other hand has a capacitive multi-touch screen which in short means it only responds to human touch (it detects touch by thermal energy) and supports using multiple fingers at once so you can try out features like pinch and zoom or play two-player games like in Tap Tap Revenge. It uses the iPhone OS which is just simply amazing. There's a lock screen, the home screen where you can scroll to every pages of apps you have, and then there's the features. The iPhone makes everything more fun to do. The iPod app lets you listen to music and it also features Cover Flow so when you turn the phone sideways it goes into Cover Flow. But sometimes Cover Flow is annoying (when your lying down in bed or something). You can surf the internet on the iPhone with Safari and it's really the best browser on the mobile market. It doesn't support Flash though but it's still the best one out there when combined with the iPhone. You can download apps and there's over 140,000 to choose from including games, apps, productivity tools, etc. The recent 3G and 3GS models have a built-in GPS and the 3GS has a built-in Compass. The 2G and 3G cannot record videos but if you buy a app from the App Store it will record videos (iVideoCamera or Qik Video). The 3GS can record video natively and has a 3 Megapixel camera (vs 2MP on 3G and 2G). All models have Bluetooth. The 3G and 3GS are nice to hold in the hand the 2G is great to hold to but it's just too straight. It has a volume rocker, a ringer switch, a Sleep button, and a Home Button for convenience. Also when calling it has a proximity sensor which detects when you hold up your iPhone close to your face and turns off the screen so you don't accidentally touch it while on a call. It also has a accelerometer which detects what position it's held (The BB Storm and Storm 2 also have this).

My opinions are I'd go with the iPhone over the Blackberry any day but only Blackberry I would choose over the iPhone is the Blackberry Bold 9700 which is such an amazing phone.

Headphone Newbie! Help..please?

Blondie

Alrighty, so I have this odd obsession with getting some great headphones for my ipod/mac. I have bought countless earphones and I like them all very much but i lose them SO quick :( So, I would like some nice headphones. I was on the Apple site and these are my choices

Sony MDR-NC500D Digital Noise Canceling Headphones (Black) http://store.apple.com/us/product/TR616LL/A?mco=MTQ4NTI2NTQ

V-MODA Crossfade LP Headphones
http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1016LL/A?mco=MTgwOTQxMjg

AKG K 181 DJ headphones
http://store.apple.com/us/product/TV971VC/A?mco=MTQ2NzU5NDU

Bose® On-Ear Headphones
http://store.apple.com/us/product/TV266VC/A?mco=MTQyNDY0MTg

and MAYBE beats by dre solo IF they someone can convince me they are actually good...

If you have any one the ones listed above, please tell me if you like them! Which do you think i should get? I'm kind of leaning towards the Sony MDR-NC500D ones because they are 150 $$ off and $250. 300 is my limit so please let me know which one you think is the best :)
I will probably get NO answers but i might as well try...

Answer
I would stay away from the noise canceling headphones. They tend to sizzle when idle. It's even possible to hear that sizzle with quieter music playing.

Bose headphones sound good, but tend to be slightly overpriced and have iffy durability. On the plus side, they're amazingly comfortable. I like the Around-ear model better than the On-ear ones though.

The AKGs sound nice, but might snag longer hair because they fold. I don't know about the V-Modas in your list.

I didn't like the beats solo too much. They sound sorta broken to me. There's a sizzling sound (like static) when there's no audio being sent to it, and its bass overpowers everything else, so many songs sound strangely muffled. It's only good for rap.

I can't really recommend the V-Modas on your list because I don't have any experience with them. So I'm going to suggest the AKG K181 DJs. But also consider the Audio-Technica ATH-M50. They have great bass and highs, they're durable and should run about $150.

What's the best set of wireless headphones available?

Dalton

I'm really sick of cords in general, just wondering what some of the best performing and most reliable sets of wireless headphones are. Price doesn't really matter, I got money in the bank (lololololol), I'd prefer something that isn't too huge and has REALLY high quality sound.

Thanks in advance!

Answer
Like the two other people wrote:

Sennheiser RS 180

This over-the-ear model from Sennheiser, which includes KLEER uncompressed digital wireless technology, provides very good sound quality. Overall, these headphones have a neutral character, with a slightly pronounced upper bass that has good impact and definition. Midrange is mostly smooth, but is a little etched and lacks fine detail. Treble is smooth and fairly detailed, but upper treble is recessed. Dynamics were decent, and the sound was slightly closed in. These headphones are generally comfortable, and were lightweight for their type, with only light pressure around ears. The velour ear pads might feel hot after prolonged use. We found it difficult to adjust the volume when wearing the headphones. The included wireless transmitter can work with up to four separate headsets. The headphones also come with an AC adapter with international outlet adapters, a detachable mini-plug-to-mini-plug cord for connecting the transmitter to an audio source, a miniplug-to-1/4-inch adapter, and miniplug-to-stereo-male-RCA "Y" adapter.

What's the best wireless headphone I should get?

Law

I recently acquired a 3rd shift job. I live with 4 other people who work during the day. I get home between 2am - 5am every morning. I'm not ready to go to bed right away. I just got a new video game I'd like to enjoy and I listen to lots of stuff on my computer, and I'm tired of trying to be quiet while everyone is asleep. If you have knowledge or experience on wireless headphones please share your story. I'd like to be able to plug it in to the sound system we have when I play on the PS3, (probably the bigger jack), and then be able to switch to the headphone jack on my computer. Right now, I'm kind of looking at the Sennheiser RS 170 Digital Wireless Headphone with Dynamic Bass and Surround Sound (currently in my amazon cart: http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-RS-170-Wireless-Headphone/dp/B002TLT10I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&m=ASH1H6YCFH4EF&s=merchant-items&qid=1301125149&sr=1-1 ) Is this good? Is this too much? I think $300 is the maximum I would go.

I don't want something cheap that will give me poor sound quality. Basically, I want to be able to listen to my stuff at volume levels I wish I could listen to without headphones, but with great sound quality, bass, and whatnot.

Answer
Since you already discovered the Sennheisers, there's not much more to add. Best wireless audio quality today is provided by the KLEER system.

But since you're asking for opinions, let me add my .02$: I see no sense in going wireless if you want to stick with the huge cans. If you want to go wireless, go for some sort of portable headphones. Ok, A2DP is not as good as KLEER, but still quite decent - and the MX W1 look very tempting, but a bit above your budget (or mine, for that matter :-((( ).

headphones?

ever so sh

what are the best looking and best preforming headphones please and thanks.

Answer
You should get some JVC Gumys, they're awesome, they have a Gold-Plated plug for good corrosion resistance & good conductivity, Neodymium magnets for good bass & clear treble, & a rubbery coating over their plastic body, & they're small & light-weight too. These are some of the best Non-Noise Isolation headphones I've ever heard & they look cool too. I wear mine for hours on end & they never even bug me, they're only like $10 @ Walmart & @ Walmart's online store. The only downsides I've seen to them is that they're a little delicate & they can't put out as much bass as I'd expected, but the bass they do put out sounds really good. They're available in lots of colors too.

Or, if you wanna get some really high-end but still affordable headphones, you should get some Sony Fontopias, they also have a Gold-Plated plug for good corrosion resistance & good conductivity, Neodymium magnets for good bass & clear treble, & they're small & light-weight too. They also have an Oxygen-Free Copper Cable, or OFC Cable for short, which helps with High Signal Transmission & Low Cable Noise. They're Noise Isolation headphones, so they block out around 90% of the noise around you, so all you hear is your music. These headphones are some of the best Noise Isolation headphones I've ever heard, & they also look cool too. They cost around $40 @ Walmart, but only around $25 @ Walmart's online store, & they come with a little case to put them in & small/medium/large earpads so you can find the right pads for your ears, the earpads are made of silicon, so they're comfortable, & washable when removed from the headphone. When you're wearing them, & something taps the cable, you can here the tapping in the headphones, which some people consider a downside, but all Noise Isolation headphones do that, & once you've gotten used to wearing the headphones, you won't even realize the tapping, remember the tapping only happens when something touches the cable, & you really only ear it if you have them in but don't have music playing, if you have music playing, you won't hear the tapping @ all. They're also available in lots of colors too.

Wow this is a long answer, I guess I should stop, sorry I got carried away, hope I helped!

I added links to the headphones below so you can check them out.

Any good under £15 in ear headphones?? 10 points?

Mr

So far I've got the JVC - hate the fact the noise isolation, on the train everyone can hear it its annoying and I like to listen to music loud.
I've bought the noontec zoro - very good sound quality to listen to at home, but again the noise isolation is annoying.

Is there any in ear headphones which cost under £15 which has a very good sound quality, is very comftable and blocks out music going out side???

Answer
You really aren't going to get any quality headphones with good sound quality and perfect sound isolation for that price. Buds do better than cover circumaural headphones but the sound quality wont be as good. Given I don't know what JVC headphones you're referring too, then although slightly over your budget the JVC S160 and JVC HAFx1x are decent.

For that price, you may as well get any cheap pair of earbuds, there isn't going to be any distinguishable difference. You may wish to try eBay though for a cheap pair of Skullcandy buds under £15.

Taking alot of time looking for some of the best headphones I can get for under $40 and I saw these http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sennheiser-HD-202-II-Headphones/24193716#rr and they looked pretty decent and really loving the 2 year warranty sense my headphones tend to break alot for no reason.. I hear Sennheiser is a good brand so is this the best set I could buy for under $40, or does anyone else have any better suggestions?
Or maybe these http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sennheiser-Entry-Level-Hi-Fi-Headphones/10965919? I noticed they were the same brand, but im guessing their an older version maybe?

Answer
Any Sennheiser is of very good quality indeed, though, as a rule of thumb, the higher the HD number, the better the sound quality in general. And yes, many high-end headphones do need a separate amplifier for small portable audio device such as MP3 players.

Good Alternative headphone to Beats?

Justin

Need to buy a good pair of full ear covering headphones. I know Beats sell good, but i'm positive they're not worth the price. I'm sure someone has other headphones that work just as well and cost a fraction of the price.

Looking to use them mostly in libraries while studying and doing school work so something that doesn't leak much would be best! Will take all opinions into consideration, thanks!

Answer
You are 100% correct about Beats (and Bose and Skullcandy). The quality doesn't justify the price.
The most popular (good) consumer style headphone is the Ath-M50. Also consider MDR-V6, HD201, or SRH-440.
I will point out that open back headphones generally sound better, but they leak worse than the Titanic which you said you don't want.
I only mentioned a few options; for more look to the links below.

Beats- headphones, any ideas?

JH.

overall for performance, feel, look, price, everything, solo hd or studio, if i was to get studio id have them customized, i dont want anything like big massive dj headphones, i just want some decent headphones

Answer
I have the Beats Tour In-Ear headphones and they are great! I bought them new for $60 from eBay and they have a great bass. I actually like them better than my brother's over-the-ear $250 professional Beats pair. The reason I think the in-ear ones are nice is because they little go IN your ear, which helps block out sound, as well as makes them able to blast that music directly at your ear. The over-the-ear beats just sit over your ear. They are nice, but I think the in-ear ones are better, and cheaper.

Also, they are very easy to carry around, compared to the bigger set. Hope I have helped.

best headphones under 150 US dollars?

Carl Guman

I will be using it it through an iPod tough 4g if that matters. I will be using it in a bus built for 60 people with 100 PEOPLE IN IT, so good noise canceling is a must. I will be listining to mostly heavy metal such as Iron Maiden (not newer stuff) but I will playing more than just metal such as jazz and country, so the bass is not an issue. If its possible I like the looks of Beats by Dr. Dre and the Souls. Thanks so much.

Answer
Looks up sennheiser. They make some badass headphones. And Beats suck tbh. The sounds quality is rubbish. 60 dollor headphones from anyother brand out play them.
