What are the best headphones for skating?

I go through headphones like toilet paper, i want in ear headphones and ones that will last me about 4- 6 months around $30 at the most. I've tried skullcandies.

Answer
Well, because you are in a noise environment. So you don't need focus on the quality, I mean, an average quality headphone is enough for this situation.

You can try all headphones under $30, if sound quality is the most important thing to you, noise cancelling headphone is your another choice.

SONY MD series, JVC HAN 250, are good noise cancelling headphones.

You can check here for some reviews:

Good luck!

Does anyone have Beats headphones who can tell a difference between lossless files and mp3 at a 320 bit rate?

aerbourne

Looking at getting a new pair of headphones. I would feel like a tool wearing Beats headphones, especially since they are $300 but i have to admit they sound pretty freaking nice lol. But yeah, I want headphones that i could tell the difference between a flac file and an mp3. Does anyone have any recommendations for other headphones? I would like to hear someone answer this same question for a nice pair of Bose headphones too.

Answer
Ahh, the widely disputed question of whether or not there is an audible difference between lossless and an mp3 file. I won't get into that, but I will give you what I think about some headphone brands. Grado makes some fine headphones though they aren't completely true to the music, as in although they sound nice, no, they don't reproduce the music to how the artist intended. Though there are those times when you want to jam and not care about the fact that they aren't technically what the artist recorded, (one instrument may stick out more than the artist intended, you tweak with this with EQ) you may want headphones that reproduce the music closest to the actual sound. Dennon makes some good closed headphones, that sound more like open headphones (with closed headphones sound won't leak out, with open sound will leak out, though open headphones generally tend to sound better). Koss makes some fairly decent sounding headphones. So does Sennheiser. AKG is another good manufacturer. There are manufactures that beat Bose in every aspect except noise-cancelation (look into JKG), and there is good sounding noise-cancelation headphones out there, their cancelation just isn't quite as good as Bose. Do some research yourself, see what you think, part of it is personal preference, part of it is how accurately headphones can reproduce the music.

Some tips to know when looking into headphones: the lower ohms and sensitivity, the easier it is to power the headphones, the higher the more power you need, this will be a factor in what you have to power your headphones, you may need to invest in a headphone amp if your going to use your ipod or mp3 player. What should be one of your main considerations when choosing headphones is frequency response, 20-20 is the full range (though the actual hearing range of the human ear is disputed, this is the most widely accepted range). For the fist number you want anything 20 or below, for the second you want 20 or higher. For instance 16-30 (not that your going to hear anything above or below 20, but many headphones will still be capable of reproducing sounds above or below 20 hertz). Back to open and closed headphones, closed headphones can sound like open headphones and vice versa, it just depends on the headphone. Also they may talk about the amount of time you can listen to the phones before ear fatigue sets in, this just refers to the amount of time you can listen before you grow tired of hearing the music.

In terms of sights to look to for headphone reviews try Cnet, Headfi, anythingbutipod, and just try a google search for headphone reviews and see what you get.

I've looked into a ton of headphone reviews and learned quite a lot about them in the process, I hope this helped.

best headphones for 8 year old image

Chrissy

My headphones are older. They are 900 mhz, model: doc/mdc 1682 k965. I lost my directions, I would have assumed hooking the jacks into the audio and then dialing them in would do the trick, however, Ive got nothing. Can anyone help me??? Do you have the manual. I would say they are 8 to 9 years old.

Answer
Be sure you're connecting the speakers to the TV's audio out... if the red and white jacks are next to a yellow one for video, that's probably an input.

Also, check the TV's control panel... it might have a setting to choose between the speakers and the audio output.

What do I need to make my Tungsten E work as an MP3 player?

Cami J

I have a Tunsten E and use it for calendar etc. I have a few games on it for my 8 year old. Can I make this work for me for music instead of buying and ipod and how? A lot of my music is Real Player downloads. Thanks.

Answer
You'll need an SD card w/ a reasonable amount of space, & headphones of course. you can download your real player software here for your tungsten E:

http://www.realnetworks.com/industries/serviceproviders/mobile/products/player/palm/index.html

This version is for Palm OS 5 btw. Load all the music on to the SD card so it won't take up interernal space. I believe windows media player comes standard w/ the software included w/ the tungsten E or you can download it & more stuff here:

Don't buy Apple In-Ear's.

They are very low quality and easily beaten by different brands.

Can In-Earphones give the bass Headphones can give ?

WillEe

As the questions states , does small drivers give less bass ? I'm In Need Of Bass ! Addicted !
or those only headphones give good bass. those which can really feel your ear moving !

I'm looking for some decent Noise Cancelling with Strong Bass headphones
best quality priced not more than $70 , yes , I know the quality wouldn't be that good

looked around Senheiser , Beats ( weird choice ! ) , and even Steelseries headphones (w/o mic)
Most of them are too expensive or doesn't fit my needs

Saw Skullcandy's 2011 headphones.
Loving their design and Price !

http://us.skullcandy.com/shop/fmj-chrome.html
Great Design , Fit's my low frequency need , and 70 bucks below with passive noise cancelling
though it's an earphone

http://us.skullcandy.com/shop/2011-gi-gold.html
LOVING THE DESIGN ! Pretty Hard to find these awesome designs ! Though quality's not as the above

So I'm wanting to save up for the FMJ , only IF ! it has the bass I need
So does earphones give the strong bass ?
mind explaining how driver size , and bass frequency and all can result in good bass. still in search of headphones if this doesn't fit my need :)

Answer
In-ears will never have the bass response that headphones have. You can get close, but it gets real expensive.

I'm a bass player and use in-ear monitors. I used off the shelf in-ears (Shure e3's) during my guitar playing days, but they didn't cut it for bass...I could not hear the bottom octave on my instruments.

I finally had to go to custom molded in-ears. Specifically Ultimate Ears UE-7's. They have a separate woofer and tweeter in them. Between that, and the fact that the custom molds really coupled them to my head (look up "bone conduction", and that will give you an idea what I'm talking about), I could really hear the entire range of my basses.

They aren't noise cancelling, but they really knocked down the stage sound. How much? The guitar player next to me had a 100 watt Mesa Boogie Heartbreaker set to "kill". My in-ears blocked out so much of his sound, I had to add him back into my monitor mix.

Unfortunately, this doesn't come cheap. Between having an audiologist make the molds, the in-ears themselves, and shipping, it was right at $1000.

Where I'm going with all of this is the fact that low frequency reproduction is a function of speaker cone area. In the price range you're looking at, I would stay with headphones if you really want all of the bass you can get.

Good luck.

Greetings from Austin, TX
Ken

Listening to music with 1 headphone affects a certain side of the brain?

best headphones classical music
on Katoh 3/4 Classical Guitar Spruce Top
best headphones classical music image
Q. Will listening to music with just 1 headphone on affect that respective part of the brain? Its been said that baroque classical music affects both sides of the brain. I was wondering if this could be altered by just using 1 headphone.

Answer
No it cannot be altered by just one headphone because your brain is separated into 2 hemispheres that are both connected by the corpus collosum. If you were a split brain patient, meaning your corpus collosum had been severed for medical purposes, (such as to reduce the effects of seizures in the brain from spreading between the hemispheres), then you would only be receiving the stimulus into one portion of the brain if you listened with one ear. However, since your corpus collosum is still connected , it transfers all information from one side of the brain to the other, and vice versa. Therefore, anything one side of the brain hears, sees, smell, visualizes, etc, the other side will as well.

How does putting headphones on your belly while pregnant really affect the baby?

Crackalyn

I would think such a thing would annoy the baby and make it hate your taste in music before even being born. Aren't fetuses like, asleep or something in the womb until they are born? Common sense tells me that disturbing a sleeping baby is a bad idea, is it somehow different in utero?
I know that's a lot of questions. I've also heard of some people using classical music saying it makes the baby smarter or something. What if they used heavy metal or rap instead? Wouldn't just talking to the belly work better?

Answer
First of all, babies are NOT always asleep in the womb. There are quite a few hours a day where they are very much awake and play and kick and do whatever they want. If you are playing music to your baby while they are in a waking cycle, then they actually enjoy it same as you would listening to music. While they might not like every bit of music you throw at them, I've found that my kids in general find comfort in the songs I played to them in the womb no matter what the song. For instance, with one of my daughters I played White Zombie ALOT and when she was born she would always get really fussy and cranky and when I'd play White Zombie she would calm down and actually be a mellow docile little thing. Also, about the classical music thing. The reason they say to play classical music is because the music notes are usually a touch irratic and it forces their brains to open up more synapsis to process the music as opposed to country which believe it or not has the lowest ability to form synapsis in the brain. It's believed that by making these early connections that your baby will be able to gain and retain information better the older they get. All I can say is that my babies always enjoyed music time and if I missed music time I would get beaten up inside and when I play music they get all calm in my belly. There's benefits to music that you just can't get from talking. Besides who's got all day to sit there and have a one sided conversation with a baby without looking like a crazy. You should talk to your baby, but sometimes music is easier to do on the go.

What are the best over/on ear headphones in terms of specs?

best headphones 300 dollar range
on Audio-Technica ATH-m50 vs Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO
best headphones 300 dollar range image

Jan Radde

Like not personal opinion or experience but just purely on the technical specifications of the headphones.

Answer
Nice to see someone caring about factual specifications rather than opinions.

Anyways, here we go.

The title for best over-ear headphone in terms of specs (that I know about of course) would have to be either:
The Sennheiser HD800's
or
The Grado PS1000's

The HD800's have an incredible frequency response of 6Hz-51kHz, while the PS1000's have an equally incredible response of 5Hz-50kHz. Not much of a difference there; both absolutely mind-blowing incredible! If you look at the frequency response graphs of each, you will notice that they are both very similar; very slightly boosted mids with well refined bass/trebble. However, the ps1000 response becomes a bit erratic as you move into the very high frequency range(not a huge deal). Both headphones have no audible distortion whatsoever. You will need a very powerful amplifier to power the hd800's due to their impedance of 300 ohms. The ps1000's on the other hand, could be powered through a standard mp3 player with an impedance of only 32 ohms.

Keep in mind, both of these headphones are over 1400 dollars and are very very high quality headphones. Both feature an open design to enhance acoustics.

Hope that helps.
Best of Luck
-Dave

Okay so I have until Sunday and I already made him a little book, 100 things I love about you. I only have like 20$ so I was thinking of getting him like 2 pairs of those $6 gummy headphones from Walmart?? Is that a bad idea, does it seem tacky?? I wanna give him something more. Ill only have like 10$ by that time, soooo any ideas?? He's a teen boy. Thanks!!!

Answer
The headphones sound a little tacky. But the book sounds really sweet!
Try not to buy him anything random, like chocolates etc, they're not very personalized! Depending on what he likes; if he's into gaming maybe get him a computer game, if he has a good sense of humor you could get him a mug with something funny on it. Mugs are always sweet ideas. If you want to get him some headphones some of the big ones that go over your head would be good, because to me they seem more expensive and personalised in a way.
Hope this helps x

I lost my last two headphones, so I am needing to buy some new ones!
Earbuds do not stay in my ears at all, even just sitting around, so I was thinking out buying the ones that go behind the ear. I don't like the ones that go over/around the head either. I use my headphones alot when I workout, so I was needing ones that wouldn't fall out easily, but ones that still have good quality. I would also like them to be under $40, please!
Thank you!

Answer
I think the best ones are from sony and they have the rubber piece that actually goes inside your ear and has edges so it stays in and needs force to come out.

How can I remove musty smell from my headphones earpads?

Alan

I workout with my beats studio sometimes( i wont do that ever again) and they smell bad. I tried covering up the smell with cologne but its still there. I tried rinsing the removable earpads on hot water with soap, no success. Is there anyway i could remove odors from the earpads? They are leather/vynil.

Answer
If they are vinyl, use bleach. If they are leather, use leather cleaner as bleach will eat leather.

I don't plan to use it for work. Only for games and fun stuff--movies,music, etc.

Answer
Your question is relatively broad, as the level of your gaming, music, and movie usage isn't defined. Will you simply be watching movies or editing them? When you say games, do you mean online Yahoo! poker or do you want to play The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on the highest graphic settings? The answers to these questions change my recommendations greatly, but I will give a quick, sweeping overview of components anybody should look for with a PC.

If you are going to buy the PC from a major company such as Dell, Gateway, etc. you will find that they offer different level computers for different levels of needs. As somebody suggested, a desktop will typically give you more performance for the price if you plan on using it at home. But, there is something very nice about being able to e-mail from your couch and surfing the net wireless.

Still, you listed movies as one of your concerns, and this typically calls for a large screen and robust sound system. You can get a large screen for a laptop, but then it ceases to be all that portable and you'd still have to hook it up to stationary speakers or headphones to get any kind of audio enjoyment from your music/media. In this regards, do no skimp on the monitor. Look for an LCD monitor with a high refresh rate (for gaming purposes) and make sure it is big enough for your purposes. 17" is a good starting size, but you'll thank yourself if you go 19" or larger. Widescreen is a luxury you can choose if you wish, but I wouldn't say it's required to any degree.

As for the guts of the computer, you're going to want to look at CPU, memory, graphics card, and hard drive space. There are, of course, other components, but these are your core essentials when judging what type of machine you're looking at.

How much CPU power will be completely dependent upon what types of applications you wish to run. If you see yourself doing movie editing, every ounce of horsepower counts. But if you don't plan on doing editing or extremely high end gaming, basically anything that is a 64 bit processor will suffice. It is important you get the 64 bit processor, as this technology will be taking over soon and you don't want to be lagging too far behind after only a year. There are two major brands of CPU: Intel and AMD. Both are good choices and you will find people that swear by one or the other. I've used both, and can say it's hard to make a bad choice.

Memory (RAM) is simple. The more you have, the better. A year ago I would have said 512mb would get most people by, but that's swiftly changing. I'd recommend at least 1gb of ram. If you plan on doing any sort of 3D gaming, put the most in you can afford. RAM is probably the cheapest and easiest way to notice an improvement in your computers performance.

Graphics cards can get more complicated. I wrote another suggestion on graphics card I will link for you here if you wish to read more:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=As7hHFFE_Y86a_2VkUktXL3sy6IX?qid=20061130225304AA7j0co&show=7#profile-info-fa45dee379360ef00b1118481e6ba8c0aa
If you plan on doing extensive 3D gaming and movie watching, you will want a nice graphics card. Get at least 256mb of memory on it. This would be the minimum now for gaming, so if you can upgrade, do it. However for most people, a graphics card with 256mb is going to do the trick for awhile.

Finally, the hard drive. This is just how much stuff you'll be fitting onto your computer. Again, the more the better. If you're downloading music, games, and movies 100gb (gigabytes) gets small really quick. Look for something with over 150gb, and upgrade as you see fit to your needs.

In short: Get a nice monitor! This is something you'll be looking at for hours, so make it pretty. When getting a CPU, make it a 64 bit processor. The best graphics card you can afford is future proofing you to be able to do games for at least 2 years. The more RAM the better, at least 1 gigabyte (But you probably wouldn't need more than 2gb). And the more hard drive space the better: you want to be able to store all your videos, movies, music, and games.

There are other features to look for, but by follow these basic standards you'll be sure to find a PC to suit your needs and price!

A quick word on Apple computers:
These are a great alternative to the PC, especially now that they come with an intel processor. However, they are going to typically cost more than a PC and not every piece of software/hardware will work for it. Still, they are beautiful machines and if you can afford the price tag I wouldn't think twice about recommending a purchase.

The sound on my computers working, but the sound from videos doesnt work.Youtube, hulu,no videos. Whats wrong?

Kevin J

I have a laptop that runs vista, i have used 3 different speakers, 2 headphones, and everything. its not muted because the sound works fine. just the videos from any website sound doesnt work. the sound on them is all the way up. im not sure what to do!! HELP!!?!!!!!! it has worked fine in the past. it just stopped working now

Answer
IF YOU ARE TELLING US THAT YOUR SOUND IS FINE, BUT NOT WITH YOUTUBE,
THEN I'VE NEVER SEEN A MORE STUPID AND SELF-SERVING REPLY THAN # 3:
-- might have turned the volume down
-- or you might have muted it before
-- a cookie might have kept it that way
-- it could be due to slow connection
-- or it could also be due to high traffic
-- try watching it during off peak hours
-- solution: BUY OUR DOWNLOADER.
By the way, 'cookies' are tiny files that websites plunk onto
your computer about your viewing preferences, such as the
features that you have enabled on your YouTube homepage.
Cookies do not affect sound whatsoever.

I see questions very similar to yours every few days on Y!A
now, so I did a whole lot of googling, searching and reading
going over dozens and dozens of websites, only to discover
that there's no definitive answer out there.

The only semblance of a part solution which kind of worked
for a few people would require you to either 1: mess around
with your registry (which I would be totally deadset against),
or 2: downloading some weird utility (which I am even more
against, because that kind of stuff is what probably created
your problem in the first place).

Thus, let me recommend what I advise so many other folks
when YouTube gets slow, stuck or weird: clear your "cache"
of all its "Cookies", 'History," and "Temporary Internet Files".
My infamous "CHTIF triple-cure" seems to resolve so many
people's YouTube problems, maybe it will "cure" yours also:

Internet Explorer 6:
â Tools â Internet Options
â Delete Cookies â OK
â Delete Files â OK
â Clear History â Yes
â OK

Internet Explorer 7:
â Tools â Internet Options â Delete...

Mozilla Firefox

[x] Download History
[x] Saved Form and Search History
[x] Cache

â Clear Private Data Now

If that doesn't do the trick, here are some other suggestions:

⦠If you've got "Google Web Accelerator" or anything similar,
uninstall it immediately. GWA destroys YouTube.

⦠Long videos require both "Flash" and "Shockwave" to play
properly. Shockwave includes Flash, but not vice versa.

⦠Avoid stupid add-ons, downloaders, and converters. There
are many Yahooligans that are really disguised salespeople.
If anyone suggests you acquire something, please note that
their "answer" probably has nothing to do with your question,
and that their products will most likely worsen your problem.
Besides, what kind of stupid and self-serving answer is that?
[my paraphrase] "Although you cannot hear or watch videos
properly, buy our downloader".

⦠By default, every time you begin a brand new session with
"Flash", the volume is set to zero. Maybe all you have to do
is scroll the volume of the video player.

⦠Who knows why it works, but sometimes things go better
when you change the web URL from "www . youtube . com"
to just "youtube . com" (or you can try "ca . youtube . com").

⦠If videos on YouTube just freeze up after barely 2 seconds,
that's what I call the "Firefox Blues", and the solution to that
is on another famous "Best Answer" of mine. So, click here:

If you do find the "cause" and the "cure", I would very much
appreciate it if you could email me, either by clicking on my
avatar or writing to me at "inukjuak90@yahoo.com".

I wish you good luck, and hope that a part of my answer will

Dan Delean

I was wondering if it is worth replacing my earphones with a headphones set. I am interested in achieving a high-quality sound although my earphones are capable of doing that. The problem is I can not compare them because i have never used headphones. Also, I can see that some of today`s headphones include a digital noise reduction programme. Can you please mention some reasons for buying a set of headphones?

Answer
If you compare a high end earphone with a low end headphone, then no. But if they're on the same level, then headphones would have slightly better audio than earphones.

The headphones will work, but the microphone will not.Standard PC audio inputs (mic, speakers, headphones, etc...)are in 3.5mm format. The headphone portion of this headset is in 3.5mm, however the mic, is not. There are some options to get around this.

First, just google pc gaming headset, I guarantee that you'll find one under 60.

If you really like these, you could just buy a cheap pc microphone and clip it to your shirt or something like that.

(I dont know if this will work) Ive read that xbox 360 mic inputs are 2.5mm jacks, so you could get a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter (like 2 bucks).
