Question about Headphones with Bass?

Sarahmb2

I'm looking to buy new over the ear headphones and I keep reading stuff about "lots of bass" or "great bass". I sort of know what that means, but is it the type of bass where you can't even really hear the music anymore and all you hear is the vibration. I don't want to loose the quality of the music. I know, for example, when listening to music in a car with a bass stereo, the bass and vibration overpowers the rest of the song, sometimes where you can't even hear the singing anymore. I just want to now if headphones with bass will be good, bad, overpowering, etc.

I'd really appreciate the help :)

Answer
most headphones don't have subwoofers in them so the bass doesn't tend to be overpowered, its almost always under powered, mostly because people use ipods with headphones which completely stifle the bass. bass is good, and with headphones its much easier not to have too much.

as long as a headphone is decent its generally the music playing device which controls, and limits the bass you hear.

i am obsessed with getting heaps of bass out of my headphones, which is why i have 2 sony walkmans e-series which have "clear bass". clear bass is the greatest feature ive ever seen on any music playing device ever. its AMAZING, and the people i show it too agree.

What are the best bass headphones?

Jeff

I want some headphones, the big ones, that make bass. LIke with the koss headphones, i was listenhing to like suicide by seether and the song was so much better with the booms that were like awesome. So what are some good cheap headphones that have bass.

Answer
Cheap headphones with bass? Well in terms of the the headphone spectrum, Sennheiser HD280pro headphones are great. They run about 80 bucks online and they fold up nicely. I've had a set for a few years now and they still work great. If you ever want some pricier middle of the road headphones, I'd recommend Sennheiser HD 595. I own these also and the sound is simply awesome. However, they aren't built to be trashed on like HD280's. HD280 is aimed at DJ's. Great bass response. HD595 is more of the audiophile market. Hope this helps.

Tiesto K267 AKG Autographed Headphones Value?

PRL

I have a pair of Tiesto K267 AKG Autographed Headphones that I caught in the crowd of his Clublife Tour in Los Angeles on 03/02/13.

What would the possible value of these headphones be?

He had autographed his Name, City, and Date

They are custom Tiesto Headphones manufactured by AKG.

Any help or ideas?

Answer
First of all, you lucky champ!! u've done well.
it would be pitty to sell them. i have an autograph from him on a small piece of paper and it's still priceless...

go to a local music shop and ask around how much would they be estimated at.
but it's a collector's keep. or u can give them to me ;D

What are the best beats headphones for value?

i like how the mixrs are different and in between than the studios and pros, but im not sure which is best for the value

Answer
NONE in fact! Please do yourself a favour and do NOT buy Razer, Karl Kani, WESC, Turtle, JH, Dr.Dre/Beats/Solo, Ludacris/Soul, Koss, Skullcandy, Lady GaGa, Skullcrushers, Monsters nor Bose, because they are ALL seriously overhyped and overpriced "fashion blingbling gimmicks" with a very poor durability and sound quality, NOTHING else (and those who try to claim they are good do NOT know ANYTHING about QUALITY anyway!), be them fake or not! If REAL quality is an issue, please go for REPUTABLE brands only such as B&W, Sennheiser (most affordable), Shure, Grado, Denon, AKG, Audio-Technica, Etymotic or Beyerdynamic. Things like Klipsch, Sony, Panasonic, JVC and Philips are ONLY "okay-ish".

If they have double pronged jacks, they will most likely have headphones for sale that have the double pronged, or give it to you for free. You can buy an adapter from Radio Shack

Or you can save money by bringing your own headphones and just listen from one ear

Repairing Stereo Headphones Cable; Dog Chewed?

quietman92

My daughter has a set of Bose over the ear headphones which she loves and needs for her business. Her new puppy got a hold of them and chewed through the cable in several places. Being somewhat handy, I attempted to replace the entire cable with one from another set of headphones. One wire/channel has a red and bare wire, the other has a green and bare wire. Splicing them together not only did not work, but when I attempted to restore the cable to the old headphones they no longer work either. I'm as certain as I can be that there were no crossed wires, I separated them strand by strand. What am I missing? This should have been an easy repair! My eyesight is not very good; is it possible that the red and green conductors are actually insulators with very fine wires inside them? It doesn't appear so. Can somebody explain this to me; she simply cannot afford to replace them, and not being able to figure it out is driving me crazy!
"it's possible the conductors are broken, that would mean you couldn't re-use the old cable".
That's why I said I was attempting to replace entire cable with one from another set.
"I think it sounds like there is shielded cable in the headphone wire. Is it like an insulated conductor, surrounded by a kind of mesh, perhaps a thin mesh of bare wire?"
One wire/channel has a red and bare wire, the other has a green and bare wire. Splicing them together not only did not work, but when I attempted to restore the cable to the old headphones they no longer work either.
The cable is not shielded in the traditional sense,
each channel/wire consists of the bare ground, which is already twisted into a single strand; and either a red or a green set off fine wires, also pre-twisted into a seeming solid conductor. There is also a cotton like strand running the length of the cables, serving no apparent purpose because the
colored and bare wires are contacting each other the entire length. (Which goe
Which goes against all of my prior experience)
I have been diagnosed with a degenerative brain disease, which definitely has depleted my abilities,
but I can't figure out why I can't replace what is basically a four conductor cable. I'm obviously missing something obvious, and am hoping that someone can tell me what it is; such as a peculiarity found only in headphone wires.
Can you think of anything other than what you've already kindly offered?
Thank you for your efforts, have a blessed day,
-Chip

Answer
If the puppy has chewed them, it's possible the conductors are broken, that would mean you couldn't re-use the old cable.

If length is not a problem, as in if there is a 3 foot cable, when it's intact, will there be enough to make a 2 foot cable work?

and will a 2 foot cable be adequate for her needs?

The main thing is to make sure you are connecting the correct wires together, that sounds really obvious, but it isn't always.

I think it sounds like there is shielded cable in the headphone wire. Is it like an insulated conductor, surrounded by a kind of mesh, perhaps a thin mesh of bare wire?

If the red wire coming from the headphones is intact, and you connect it to the red wire in the remaining intact cable, you should have electrical contact. The shield, if that's what it is, should also be connected. The easiest way to do this, is to peel enough insulation back, separate the mesh, and twist the mesh into a cylinder, on both sides of the break, and splice the cylinders together. This would apply to the green wire too. Make sure each conductor is making a complete circuit between the headphone and the plug.

I'm not sure how well equipped your toolbox is, but an electrical connection works better if it has been soldered. I would also use a continuity checker, or an ohmmeter if you have one, and make sure you have a solid conductor between the parts of the cable that can be salvaged.

A hand splice can make a complete circuit, if necessary, of course, and I recommend a pigtail splice, which if you have been attempting this repair, I'm sure you are familiar with.

Personally, if this was frustrating me this much, I'd pause, say a rude word and glare at the puppy periodically, just to let him know why "pet-grandpa" is so frustrated.

Audio In to Female Headphone Cable?

John

I am looking for 2 Audio In's that turn into a Female Headphone thingymabob

This is so I can turn the white and red audio cables into a socket that I can put headphones in.

If I am being an idiot and I still am not clear, here are some extra explanations:

__________________________________________________________________

2 Audio ins on one side and a female headphone socket on the other

Here is a diagram (kinda) http://pastebin.com/Z9pJ04mW

I don't know what it's called so I don't know where to find it.
(I don't know what anything is called)

Does anyone know where I can get one online?

I know nothing about wiring.

Answer
So, you want to go from what's called AUX out (aka line level out) to headphones, without using a headphone amplifier in-between.

To do that you would use a passive adapter cable with 2 RCA plugs (red and white) to a stereo 3.5mm "mini phone" jack. See the first link below.

That will give you some sound, but it won't be very loud, and (unless it's a variable level line out as on some TVs) it also will be at a fixed volume level. If it is a variable line out, you'll want to crank it all the way up.
How loud it is will be dependent on the efficiency of the headphones. Some ear buds may be efficient enough to give a reasonable level, though.

To do it right with a headphone amp (which will cost you more), I found the lowest-cost solution (in a name brand) that I could for you (about $30). Most headphone amps have several jacks so many headphones can plug in at once; the one below can handle up to 4 headphones.

Best over the ear headphones to workout?

Claudio

So I was thinking in buying beats studio or executive but I saw a lot of bad reviews online so nevermind that but I really want headphones to lift weight and jog in. I'm sick of my ear buds. Anyone know good quality headphones other than beats by dre?

Answer
There is a new Bose workout line. Bose is probably one of the best headphone companies.

Good workout headphones?

Albert T

I workout quite a bit, and I love listening to music while I run, lift, or kick Bob the Punching dummy in the groin.

The problem is, I seem to run through headphones very quickly. I've never dropped them, stepped on them, put then in contact with water, yet my constant running and jumping around seem to have damaged the connectivity of every single pair of earbuds I use.

So in short, I am looking for a pair of durable headphones designed for heavy wear and tear from working out. I'd prefer they be earbuds, but I'd honestly take anything that will last longer than three months for me.

Thanks.

these ones really stay in your ear, at all costs. They're really lightweight, and allow for external sounds to come through which is good for hearing cars or other hazards. They're water resistant and has a special button right on them for skipping tracks. They're one of my favorites by far. $48.00

How do you use headphones from a guitar amp?

Brittney

I bought a tube amplifier that is 120 watts. The manager of my apartment complex lives right above me. I am trying to find a way to play my guitar without disturbing her. My guitar amplifier does not have a headphone output. It DOES have a Line output with dedicated Level control and an FX Loop with independent Send and Return level controls.

I looked around on the internet and bought a headphone amplifier to run through the line output but either I'm doing it wrong (which I'm probably not) or something in the chain is in disagreement.

I just joined the Jazz Ensemble at my college and need to practice as much as possible.
I did buy a converter and tried running the line out directly to my headphones. Again, no luck.

Answer
Most tube amps don't have a headphone jack. Just get the Korg Pandora and save the tubes in your amp for when you play live. I use the Pandora in hotel rooms when I travel and love it. It has tons of built-in effects, a bunch of drum tracks to jam with and it is a chromactic tuner. Seriously, this is the ticket for you. Just plug in your guitar and headphones and start jamming.

guitar amp headphones?

i need yo buy a set of headphones for my guitar amp, so i don't piss off the whole street with noise in the midle of the night.
id prefer an over the ear type, relatively cheap, that also has decent sound quality, can anyone help me out?

(also needs to have the right input for the amp)

Answer
The headphones' plugs come in only two dimensions and most headphones are sold with an adapter or you can get one for like $1.50. Sennheiser manufactures pretty cheap (vicinity of $30 or even less) yet decent quality headphones you can use, any online store has them, as does any Radio Shack. Here's an example:

Good High Quality HeadPhones for 200$ or less?

NC

Hi I have these headphones : http://m.brookstone.com/mt/www.brookstone.com/clear-harmony-headphones-ipod-touch.html I was wondering. Should I keep these headphones or sell them for 200$(offered) and buy diffrent headphones. So I would be looking for headphones around 200 what wouls you guys suggest. I dont care about looks to much. Just can't be giant. I liked beats but idk which version to get. Please throw as many good good quality headphones you have in suggestion. Thank you in advance. Buds are also a option so put as many out as you can.

Side Note: The lower the better (price) but at the same time the higher quality the better o.O :P thanks

Answer
All these headphones are not noise canceling, including the Beats. Do you want something more convenient to carry around or something with higher sound quality? Get Beats Headphones if $300 is nothing to you or if you want a fashion accessory. The sound quality is decent but definitely not worth $350. The AKG Q460 is a good light, easy to carry/store and good sound quality. ($160 but you can probably find it for cheaper) It might get slightly uncomfortable if you have big ears and wear them for 2+ hours. The Grado SR80i is also a good alternative. Not as good as AKG but similar sound quality but cheaper. Klipsch Image One great sound quality, gets uncomfortable after 1-2hours+. The Sennheiser HD555, HD558, and HD559 are my favorite headphones under $200. By far the best sound for headphones under $300 and under. They are however harder to carry around than the other headphones (same size as Beat Studios) but extremely comfortable. I wore these for 8 hours straight without problems. Anyways check out those brands and see what models seems good for you. Anything from Sennheiser, AKG, Grado and Klipsch for above $100 is good but read reviews of it. (Buds from these companies are good too as well as the Beat Tours).

If it still bothers you, invest in iPod speakers and listen worry-free from that.

Why are left and right headphone cords different lengths?

lauren

It's not all headphones..but alot. And it drives me insane because the earphone that's attached to the shorter cord always falls out of my ear. So now I'm curious as to why they're made like this.

Answer
They are made this way so you can wrap the longer one around the back of your neck, so say the left earphone has the shorter cable, you put it in your ear and then wrap the cord of the right earphone around the back of your neck to hold it in place.

I always wondered this too until one day I realised what the difference in cable lengths was for.

Hope this helps =)

Setting up headphones on my xbox?

Justin

I want to hook up my headphones to my TV so I can play xbox while my girlfriend is asleep. My TV does not have a headphone jack, but it has an "audio" jack. Plugging my headphones into this does nothing. I've tried setting up a chat headset, that doesn't work. Messed with the preferences to have all game audio coming to the headset, doesn't work. I know I can get turtle beach headphones or something else that works through a USB to the xbox itself, but I don't want to have to do that.

Answer
If you look at the back or the side of your TV, you should find lots of audio jacks try some different combinations, and it should work. Or, you could get another pair of gaming headphones.

do i need the headphones for xbox 360?

Christine

My son wants to go LIVE and I already bought the wireless adapter and gold card. someone said i need the headphones. do i? what are they for?

Answer
depends on how hardcore your son is. Headphones can make it so you can hear footsteps in the distance or behind you so during online play no one can sneak up on you. it also depends on what he'll be playing.
You do NOT need headphones to play tho. the Xbox 360 console should also come with and Headset that you can hear people and talk to people with. The one that comes with the xbox will not have any game sound coming out of it though.

Should i buy these skullcandy headphones?

Little Mis

I'm really into these skullcandy headphones --> http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9371132/c_1/1|category_root|Home+entertainment+and+sat+nav|14419512/c_2/2|14419512|Headphones+and+earphones|14419643/c_3/3|cat_14419643|Over-ear+headphones|14419648.htm

And i was wondering whether anyone knew if these are good, or if they'll be good by reading the description?
They're £24.99 Skullcandy Uprock Headphones, and they have a 3.5mm jack. Is that the common size and would it fit my phone the Samsung Galaxy S and my MP4? Sorry for so many questions but i want to make sure they are really good before i buy them!
Thanks x
Also, do Skullcandys last a long time?

Answer
Hi, I'm a 13 year old girl and I asked a similar question when I was thinking of buying my *cough* pink *cough* headphones (I really regret buying the pink ones now, they look kinda stupid... I had planned on buying the white ones, but argos didn't have them in stock, so I picked the pink ones. stupid me.) someone did warn me to buy a better brand, but i really wanted some so I didn't listen to them.
I bought mine last summer (summer 2011) and they're still okay, still look like new, but they rattle quite a bit, which can be quite annoying. They've stretched as well in a way, it becomes easier to widen them which leads me to believe that they will eventually snap, but I'm not sure. These are my first pair of headphones so I didn't really want to spend a lot on them and I only use them at home, I don't take them out anywhere. Also, maybe the fact that only I use them and I don't chuck them across the room and stuff. I don't think they'll last very long now (probably not because they were only about £25 to start with, which isn't much for a pair of headphones) They still sound great and there's nothing wrong with the quality of the sound but it's the design I hate. The flat cable is nice to have, I still don't know how it's 'tangle free' though, as they still get a bit tangled sometimes.. so I'm planning on buying a pair of beats solo HD headphones next February because I know the sound will be better and they'll last longer + look better... I'm glad i tried Skullcandy first though.
Yes, the 3.5mm jack is the most common jack size and will fit most devices, like iphone's, MP4's and your Samsung (I think it will, I've just googled it and it looks like it should) It's really up to you if you want some, but I'm just saying that I don't wear them in public cuz they look weird. I've had them for about 6 months, and they've done well considering I use them everyday. Hope this helped =D

Okay, so I am down to my final 5 headphones, please tell me your top few or just your top one you think I should get. If you own any of these, reviews are appreciated. Answer
Hey, J90

There are a wide range of headphones available on the market at the moment, and for the most part, the quality of the craftmanship and sound will depend on the price that you are willing to spend. In the lower price range (less than $50), you will be able to find some no too shabby headphones that will be perfect for somebody that is just looking to listen to music on their iPod or computer, and are not full-on audiophiles. Once you get to the medium price range ($50-150), you will get a good selection of amazing quality headphones that would be perfect for nearly everyone that is not involved with music professionally. The sound quality of these headphones will be suberb, should block out nearly all background noise, and are going to be of a quality craftmanship that will last for quite a long time. On the more expensive side of things ($150 and up), you are going to get into professional quality headphones. For the normal person this will be a bit too much as they provide a quality of sound that is unmatched, but is most often only sought after by professionals working on their own music (or the type of consumers who make sure that their house is hooked up with the best speaker systems on the market).

Depending on how much you are willing to spend, my top five choices (from cheapest to most expensive) would be:

Sennheiser HD 202 II Professional

http://headphones.respectablereviews.com/sennheiser-hd-202-ii-professional/

This model provides good insulation against background noise and has a solid bass range and response time. Perfect for somebody wanting a cheap set of quality headphones.

Sennheiser RS120

http://headphones.respectablereviews.com/sennheiser-rs120/

These are quite affordable for wireless headphones. They have an open-ear system with a strong bass response. Because they are wireless, you don't even have to be in the same room as the device that is transmitting the sound, giving you ultimate flexibility while listening to music. Very lightweight and a high quality. I have this set for using around my condo.

Sennheiser HD280 Professional

http://headphones.respectablereviews.com/sennheiser-hd-280-pro/

These are well into the midrange quality headphones. This set is corded, but provides a much better sound quality than the RS120. They provide up to 32 dB attenuation of outside noise, so you do not need to worry about much from background noise, even in somewhat noisy environments.

Beats by Dr. Dre Solo HD

http://headphones.respectablereviews.com/beats-by-dr-dre-solo-hd/

These are on the high-end of the spectrum of headphones. They are quite comfortable and are able to produce an amazing sound quality. If you're looking for something that is "in-style" and provides some of the best sound quality that you can find at this price range, then these are the headphones for you.

Bose Quietcomfort 15

http://headphones.respectablereviews.com/bose-quietcomfort-15/

I use this set when I'm playing live shows. They are some of the best headphones you can get right now, are very comfortable while wearing for many hours at a time (even in hot, sweaty clubs), block out most background noise and provide nearly unmatched sound quality. For somebody looking for professional quality headphones, or with a big budget for the best money can buy, then these are the headphones for you.

The most important thing while choosing the headphones, is the consider what you will be using them for and do not over estimate how much quality you actually need. If you're looking for something to use to and from school or just while you're hanging out, listening to music, you probably do not need top of the line Bose. Good luck, J90, and I hope you find the perfect set!

Will headphones mess up monitor?

Camden

This might be a rather silly question but I need a serious answere. I have 2 pairs of headphones Astro A40's and Dr Dre studio beats. And when I don't use them I rest them on the monitor, will they mess up the monitor as they rest ontop? Like kill pixels? And any proof of answere will be best, such as website link or something, thanks!!

Answer
READ the warnings presented with most computers and monitors. These all warn against ANY magnets being anywhere near either monitors or computers. Generally people carelessly do put them close or on equipment without any problem. But about 20 minutes ago someone was on asking why their machine would not run after putting a magnet on it and they had totally destroyed the hard drive. Considering this is metal enclosed for shielding and well inside the machine, the electronic components on the monitor controller board and the screen are put at risk ever time you do this. An unusual power spike, a particularly difficult data stream and you could have a dead monitor. Having said that, the magnets in these headphones are relatively weak. but e careful, your next pair could have a seriously heavy duty ones and do instant damage.

What kind of studio monitoring headphones should I buy?

SoldierDuc

I wanted beats by dre studio at first. But many audiophiles hated them. I am considering Shure, Beyerdynamics ATH m50 bose AKG and Sennheiser. Which headphones are better than beats? I listen to normal music such as lady gaga Taylor swift etc etc. And I would really want the bass to be thumping. Mids be sharp and crisp. My budget is around 400-600(usd) . Try to include active noise canceling and the feature of switching to hearing-people-talk-without-taking-out-headphones thing. Thanks a lot! Please state the model when you choose a certain brand! :)

Answer
Probably the best for your money would be the Sennheiser HD 25-1 II or the Audio Technica ATH-M50. Neither of these headphones have active cancellation, but they're both closed-back headphones that cut out most background noise. I own the Sennheisers and they're great for commuting on a noisy NYC subway. The Sennheisers cost $200 and tick all the boxes as far as sound quality is concerned. They're also extremely durable as they're made for pro audio use. The ATH-M50 costs about $150 and, while I haven't heard them yet, I see that they've been getting fantastic reviews and recommendations as Beats replacements from the headphone addicts on http://www.head-fi.org

For a bit more money, you could check out the $300 Bowers and Wilkins P5. These are my current favorites - they're just a little bit more comfortable than the Sennheisers, and sound just a little bit better. Plus they look sexy too :)

That's as far as I go for now. I know you said your budget was $400 to $600, but I haven't listened to anything in that price range yet. To be honest, if I had your $600 to spend, I'd get two pairs of headphones - one over-ear, and one in-ear. Sometimes you're in the mood for one, sometimes you're in the mood for the other.... The Bowers & Wilkins P5s at $300, and the Shure SE435 also at $300. Sorted.... :)

Depends on what you want to spend. Right now I have a pair of sony ex 71's, and I love them. By far the most comfortable pair of headphones anywhere, and are nice for anyone who isnt an audiophile. You can probably get them from amazon for about 30 bucks.

If you are looking to spend more, shure makes fantastic headphones, but the draw back is they are expensive. The sony's I mention compare to the e2's, but if you go up from there the sound quallity will improve a lot. The nice thing about them, aside from their sound quallity, is the headphones come with a bunch of attachments, you just need to find the right fit + they are durable, the only drawback that the sony's have.

I'd say, you're best off w/ the ex 71's. Your sister will love 'em, and however you look at it, any in ear headphone will be better than anything from apple. In fact, the apple headphones are made by sony too, but most of the sony branded ones are better.

Question about headphones and ipods?

Ok. Simple question. Is it better to invest in a nice ipod, or nice headphones?

Answer
Any old iPod will do. Once you have that, then as long as it has as much storage as you need, and as long as it works, then it's worth buying the good headphones. The 'phones that come with your iPod are only really good enough just for making sure the iPod works. You can get MUCH better by spending as little as $50. Of course you can spend MUCH more, depending on how much you value sound quality. Or how much you value being a fashion victim, if you buy Beats.

Personally, I use an iPod Classic, and it does the job just fine. I usually listen to it through Shure SE530 in-ear-monitors, or Bowers and Wilkins P5 headphones (although I have 5 or 6 other pairs of headphones too). The iPod will only be replaced when it breaks. I'll add to the headphone collection whenever I can afford to!

What are the best over ear headphones under $50?

martybee

Answer
it depends on what you're looking for, but these are my suggestion.
http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/sennheiser-hd-201-headphones/4505-7877_7-31651361.html?tag=mncol;lst

in the last three years i've been through 17 pairs of headphones, ranging from $4 to $250. Out of all these, the sennheisers have proven to be the best. They've lasted the longest (they still work even though my dog sat on them and broke one rotation restrictor on the headphone, so it spins and twists more than it should).

The sennheisers are just a little lacking in the feeling you get with the bass, but they're extremely clear and keep in the sound a lot. A personal pet peeve of mine is when other people can hear my music, so that's a plus for me. They don't keep a lot of sound out, but they're great for at-home use. The cord is 7 or 8ft long, which works well for me because i use my laptop in my bed, so if i need to grab my backpack for whatever reason, i can get up and grab it without having to take off my headphones.
they are very well made, you could only break them by dropping them on the subway track... which i unfortunately did... BUT they are amazing! some of the best headphones i've ever had!

http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/meelectronics-ht-21-portable/4505-7877_7-34476524.html?tag=mncol;lst
those are good too, they have the same issue of no sound cancelation, but they're more portable than the sennheisers. they're comfortable with an over-the-ear closed back design, but they can make your ears a little sweaty (eww) after a long, long time. They're not as square as the senns, they look more like a headband than the senns, which look a little dork on...
i only had these for a week before i traded them with a friend for another pair i wanted to try, and i never got them back... i think he lost them... so i dont have as much experience with them as the senns.

if you want headphones that give you extreme bass and that look cool, check these out
http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/jvc-xtreme-xplosives-around/4505-7877_7-34491860.html?tag=mncol;lst

they're the cheap version of the dr dres, they look just as cool, and they've got basically the exact same sound quality. One thing: they leak sound like crazy. If you dont care about that, then these are for you. I care about that a lot, so i hated these, but that's just me, and most people don't care about that as much as i do.

http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/akg-k-518-le/4505-7877_7-33824341.html?tag=mncol;lst
my friend says to recommend these for any electronic listeners. i haven't had them, but you can check them out if you like electronic music. they look pretty cool and the specs aren't half bad.

Good luck with all this, being an audiophile, I love buying new headphones, but i know for some people it's just confusing and annoying. i hope you find what you're looking for, and if you need more assistance just send me a message or something.

P.S. I've got a fever as of right now, so i'm sorry if any parts of this made no sense...

over ear headphones for under 50?

dyllan c

i found a few headphones i liked and wanted to know which to buy it is between audio-technica ath-m40fs and skullcandy hesh i only got around 50 bucks so yeh and i wanted to know if there was others maybe better or which one of these are better

Answer
I got these headphones a couple years ago due to an obnoxious roommate who loved blasting music on his stereo.. still got them and they're great.

They are listed at around $80 on Amazon, but this link is for $46 and they are supposedly new.

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-SONY-MDR-V6-V6-STEREO-MONITOR-PRO-HEADPHONES-/170609351282?pt=Other_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item27b91c1a72#ht_4529wt_1139

Of the two you listed, I'd probably go with the Audio-Technica; I've had bad experiences with Skullcandy headphones, and the reviews for the ath-m40fs seem to be pretty good in general.

how to make a headphone stand?

Prateek Ag

I want to make my own headphone stand that should be attractive......plzz tell me

Answer
No offense, but the search engines tend to be a good source to find this kind on information :-)

I just entered the search term "how to make a headphone stand" (without the quotes) into Google, and it returned a number of results.

I will assume some basic woodworking skills and some spray finish it all it will take.

what is a good pair of headphones? My ipod headphones break all the time and even other ones i buy also break.

Answer
I have two different ones that I've had for ages and I use them both a lot. They're still like brand new. One is by Sony and the other is by Altec-Lansing, both have bass-boost and are around $30 or $40. The A-Ls have a woven coating instead of the plastic and they seem super heavy-duty. You need to consider whether you might be using them in such a way as they're breaking so much. When I wear my iPod clipped on my pants pocket, I run the wire inside my shirt and then loosely through one or two belt loops. It keeps them from snagging on anything else. Then when they're not in use, I store them in plastic zipper bags to minimize tangling.

what headphones have good wiring?

Yanababyyy

recently every pair of headphones i've bought end up breaking because the wiring at the end of the cord gets messed up. does anyone know of a kind that has good wires so i won't have to buy a new pair every pay day? hah.
please and gracias(:

Answer
The ones that are going to be most durable are those with a right angle at the plug. Sony makes some good ones. Altec-Lansings don't have the right angle plug, but they have a woven coating instead of plastic. I have both and I've been wearing each of them daily for about three years. They both look and perform like they did when they were new. Both have great sound quality and were moderately priced. But, a lot of it has to do with how they're treated. I run the cord under my clothes to prevent tugging and snagging. When not in use, I wind them in a loose figure eight around the thumb and pinkie, like embroiderers wind floss, then I store them in individual snack-size zipper bags.

Headphone Help.....................?

And i don't like ear buds, My favorite are the ones that go over year kind of like dj style, And i was considering sennheiser HD 202 Headphones, But i didn't know if there is anything better out there, Since i like a lot of Hip-Hop/Rap i'm looking for headphones with good bass, Please help....

Answer
Hmmm, ive seen some really great Sony headphones at Wal-Mart, for like $25 dollars, but i cant remember what they were called. On the front of the packaging, it said, like, Super Bass, and like head-style. But, i cannot give you the model, because i do not know it. Sorry!

What is the best set of over the ear headphones under 30 dollars?

pitghost95

The last pair I had were the Seenheiser HD202s for 22 dollars and they were phenomenal (for the price) and I just kind of want a newer pair. Since they broke recently.
I refuse to buy Beats or SkullCandy. They fall apart too easy.

Answer
The Sennheiser HD 201's are very nice. I've heard good things about them. I've also heard lots of great things about the JVC HARX500. The JVC's are pretty much undoubtedly the best over ear phones for under $20, and the Senn's are the best under $30.

Which headphone is better, Beats By Dr. Dre Studio or Sennheiser RS 180?

!!

I have been doing a lot of research over these two headphones and so far I have found out that the Dr Dre headphones have a great sound quality and bass and are extremely comfortable. However, it seems that they are very fragile, with many people complaining that their headphones broke within weeks. However these headphones are the best looking on the market, and I haven't found many better looking headphones over the internet. They are around £200
The Sennheiser Rs180s are wireless and probably the second best looking. They are cheaper than the Dr Dre ones at £170, but I do not know about the sound quality. I have previously owned some Sennheiser HD555, and whilst comfortable, they were too large to wear whilst walking or on the tube. Also the cable was huge, and the jack hardly worked.

Answer
I cannot comment on the Dr. Dre Beats but I just recently purchased the Sennheiser RS 180 which replaced my Sennheiser RS 120s after many years of use. The RS 180 produce excellent sound quality. Truely no hisses or pops when watching TV. The KLEER technology is a real winner IMO. My only complaint is with the range. Sennheiser's marketing states 320 feet (100 meters) but that is absolute BS. Aside from sitting in front of my TV, which is about 10 - 12 feet, I wear them on our patio which is about 35-45 feet from the base (through one wall) and only when my head is turned just right can I hear anything from these headphones. Regardless, for the main purpose of my needs these are wonderful headphones.

creative ep 630 vs sennheiser cx 270 vs sennheiser cx 180?

silentassa

i brought philips go gear vibe 4gb video player..the headset that came with the player was good the effect was superb but as i travel a lot ..outside noises disturbs the sound effect much more it is not a in ear headphone..will creative ep 630 can nullify the outside noises completely because i dont want to hear a single noise from outside except music will creative ep630 can do that and it should also offer excellent sound quality with max bass..

Answer
The Sennheiser RS 180 wireless headphones use an uncompressed transmission system called Kleer, so you get the full fat sound that you would expect from a wired headphone. With this new technology why would you opt for compressed audio? 2) The second point is, Sennheiser never fail to deliver on audio quality. You only have to read a few reviews to get a feel for their quality as a brand. And these headphones are no exception, the audio quality is just spectacular, no hiss, no noise, no fuss. Actualy I just thought of a third reason, the design.

My boyfriend wants Beats by Dre for his birthday, the over-ear ones. (Studio, Pro or Solo are the names of the over ear ones) But those are way to expensive. What are some over-ear headphones that have just as good quality, but for a lower price?

Answer
Sennheiser HD555
Alessandro MS1

Both are great but have different styles of sound so it's a matter of taste. See head-fi.org, specifically these threads might help: http://www.head-fi.org/search.php?search=ms1+hd555

On those threads you might also see people talking about Grado sr60/sr80 because Grado is the same brand as Alessandro. The MS1 is supposed to be a more neutral headphone than the sr80, and are supposed to be a step up (more similar to the sr125). But if your boyfriend only listens to Rock and hip-hop, then the sr80's might be a better choice. As for the HD555's, they're said to be good for a wide variety of genres.

*Edit*
Yeah the hd280's are good too but they're closed-cup. If he needs his headphones to block some noise then go with the 280's. Otherwise the 555's will sound a little better since they're open-air (except the 280's bass is better because it reverberates off the cup).

Is buying a pair of 300 dollar headphones really worth it?

Im looking to buy a nice descent pair of noise canceling headphones for my ipod and i have been looking through bose and monster beats and they look very nice but the problem they cost a load of money! why are they so expensive?

Answer
Take a look at this site:
http://bendjaminstokson.vox.com/library/post/state-of-the-art-boses-latest-headphones-can-quell-the-clangor.html

"""A few seconds after turning on the headphones in flight, I suddenly felt inner-ear pressure, as if I needed to âpopâ my ears. So I yawned and drank and gum-chewed and swallowed, generally exhibiting every tic ever documented. But the pressure never went away.

Headphones on: uncomfortable pressure. Headphones off: no pressure. I began to wonder if Iâd gotten the name wrong, if they werenât really the Bose QuietDiscomforts.

I shared the headphones with my travel companions; they all noticed the same effect, but only some were bothered by it.

Boseâs response: âWhat youâve described is something weâve heard occasionally from some of our customers  no more with the QC15 than our other headphones."""

âThe sensation of needing to âpopâ your ears is normally caused by a static air-pressure difference across your eardrums  something that occurs in an ascending (or descending) airplane. Headphones that reduce more low-frequency sound pressure from surrounding noise (like the QC15 or our Aviation headset) is perceptually similar to the âthinâ sound caused by a static air pressure difference. We believe this can explain the sensation of pressure on the ear when none is actually there.â
or:
http://www.head-fi.org/products/bose-quietcomfort-15-acoustic-noise-cancelling-headphones
or this site:
http://astore.amazon.com/noise-cancelling-headphones-20/detail/B002M38I2U

Anyways, - this pressure issue does exist.
I've tested these QC15's for a few weeks - and the pressure drives me nuts - ... it is very apparent, more than other NC phones. So this all depends if you can handle the pressure. It gives me headaches and nausea... it may not have the same effect on you.
Buy them, try them out - you'll love the NC [as it is one of the best out there...] then you can make a decision on if they are worth the $$.

Hope this helps.

Best headphones for $300?

Paul

I'm looking for an amazing pair of headphones for up to $300 dollars. I want the best I can get for that price. I am very picky with my sound. I want deep rich and strong bass along with clear mids and highs. Help me out here?
Yes I know thats only mid range

Answer
errr donate what? Bizarre! Anyways...

From what I've read about mid-range headphones (believe it or not $300 is only mid-range, lol), there are some trade-offs you have to choose from. Some headphones are balanced, others shine more in one area while lacking a little in others. From the sounds of it, you want some balance but want the bass be more present than it is in some of the flat-responding models I know of.

I actually answered a similar question earlier. I'll link you to my answer. Since the asker only mentioned bass, not all of the models I suggested are balanced. But some are. Like I told him, you should check out the head-fi forum. Those people are as picky as it gets when it comes to sound ;)
