What are the best noise cancelling headphones for around $150?

I have looked at the Dr. Dre Solo's and would consider them at 180. Just wondering what other people think. I'm in college and starting to realize that drowning out others to do homework is required.

Around ear- NOT the ones that sit on your ears
Roughly $150 with some room either way. Cheaper is better but I will pay for brand name and/or quality
