I was thinking about beats, but they seem to be more of a fashion trend than true sound quality. I want good headphones for dubstep, basically I want some filthy bass. Can you recommend some pairs to me?

Please do yourself a favour and do NOT buy Dr.Dre/Beats/Solo, Koss, Skullcandy, Skullcrushers nor Bose, because ALL of them are seriously overhyped and overpriced "fashion blingbling gimmicks" with a very poor durability and sound quality, NOTHING else (and those who try to claim they are good do NOT know ANYTHING about QUALITY anyway!), be them fake or not! If REAL quality is an issue, please go for REPUTABLE brands only such as B&W, Sennheiser (most affordable), Shure, Grado, Denon, AKG, Audio-Technica, Etymotic or Beyerdynamic. Please do not let the peer pressure/fashion fool you because it is very often a waste of money.

I'm looking for a good pair of headphones that will handle the heaviest of bass drops. I'm looking for in ear or stereo type headphones preferably under $50 any suggestions?

i encourage you to stretch out your budget a little bit and get the nuforce ne-700x. very good bang for the buck, very good sound quality. monstrous bass without offending audiophiles.
