I would guess neither. The "best" (whatever that means) headphones at most price points would probably be from a company such as Grado, Shure, Sennheiser etc. Monster and Bose make headphones that are average, at best. People who care about sound quality recognize that Bose are regarded as good simply because they spend a lot of money on advertising, whereas Monster rely on celebrity endorsements to give their products a bit of "street cred".

Okay, so I am down to my final 5 headphones, please tell me your top few or just your top one you think I should get. If you own any of these, reviews are appreciated. Recommendations are great, but if it is endorsed by a rapper or pop star, forget it. Sound quality is my first priority, and if that means compromising sound isolation, so be it::

There are a wide range of headphones available on the market at the moment, and for the most part, the quality of the craftmanship and sound will depend on the price that you are willing to spend. In the lower price range (less than $50), you will be able to find some no too shabby headphones that will be perfect for somebody that is just looking to listen to music on their iPod or computer, and are not full-on audiophiles. Once you get to the medium price range ($50-150), you will get a good selection of amazing quality headphones that would be perfect for nearly everyone that is not involved with music professionally. The sound quality of these headphones will be suberb, should block out nearly all background noise, and are going to be of a quality craftmanship that will last for quite a long time. On the more expensive side of things ($150 and up), you are going to get into professional quality headphones. For the normal person this will be a bit too much as they provide a quality of sound that is unmatched, but is most often only sought after by professionals working on their own music (or the type of consumers who make sure that their house is hooked up with the best speaker systems on the market).
Depending on how much you are willing to spend, my top five choices (from cheapest to most expensive) would be:
Sennheiser HD 202 II Professional

This model provides good insulation against background noise and has a solid bass range and response time. Perfect for somebody wanting a cheap set of quality headphones.
Sennheiser RS120

Because they are wireless, you don't even have to be in the same room as the device that is transmitting the sound, giving you ultimate flexibility while listening to music.
