Is iHome a good brand to buy headphones?

Mika

I am looking for headphones to buy my little sister for Christmas, she is always listening to music and recently broke her headset. She likes this Jack Skellington Headset from HotTopic.

Has anyone brought these or any iHome Over-the-Ear headphones? How did you like them?

What is a good website to buy cute Over-the-Ear headphones?

Any help is appreciated. :)

Answer
It's not always about the brand name. In my many years of being an audiophile, I've come to realize that the manufacturers of headphones don't matter as much as the driver unit/build quality. Those are the ihome ib40's. They feature a 40 mm driver that puts out an okay mid-range, has OK bass, really...OK everything. Nothing is spectacular and they are flat sounding for the most part. Treble is soft. They aren't terrible headphones, but for 40 dollars you could get better. You have to make a decision here. In my opinion, she would appreciate the Jack Skelligton headphones because she obviously is a fan.

As well, ask her what format of audio she uses. That being MP3, flac. Wav. etc. If she listens to Mp3's a good pair of headphones are a waste unless they are encoded at 320 kbps at the standard 16 bit. If you want a good headphone recommendation, ask me. I listen to 32 bit wav. files. That is the highest resolution.
