Skullcandy Headphones Description, please explain whats frequency range, impedance etc.?

Revolver_I

im into skull candy right now, and i wanna choose a good model, but i really cant understand what those things mean..

Answer
frequency range is how much the music goes in terms of lows and high audio range. for example skullcandy hesh has a frequency range of 100 - 18000hz. 100 represents the lows and 18k is the highs. in other words, skullcandy is garbage on low bass range, although highs are ok. headphones with good bass response goes 20 at worst. skullcandy don't have any headphone in terms of good audio quality, especially if you're into accurate bass. but if you're not an audiophile, just buy any headphone that sounds good to your ears. as for impedance, don't worry about it unless you use a headphone amp.

Does a FiiO headphone amp increase an iPod's frequency range?

I want to get a FiiO Alisan-E01 portable headphone amplifier for my iPod touch. It is specifically designed for the iPod, and even connects via the 30-pin input. The amp has a frequency range of 10 to 30,000 Hz. However, the iPod's sound card supports only 20 to 20,000 Hz. So, if I connect the FiiO amp to my iPod, will I actually get a higher frequency range?

Answer
No...you can't magically add another 10kHz of bandwidth that isn't there.

It really doesn't matter...your headphones aren't likely to reproduce anything above 16kHz or so. And if you've been listening to really loud music for an extended length of time, you're probably not going to be able to hear much over 15kHz (or less).

And for that fact, MP3 files (depending on the encoding rate) aren't going to have anywhere near that for high frequency response.

Once again, manufacturers throw big numbers out to impress people that really don't understand what they mean.
