Is it weird to wear dj headphones?

BOBBY

I just bought skull candy headphones, is it weird to wear them on the way to school?
And will people make fun of me

Answer
Skull Candy headphones are not real DJ headphones. Skull Candy makes DJ "Style" headphones, they are designed for regular people but made to look like DJ headphones.

They are purely a fashion accessory and designed to be "trendy". Wearing them in public is fine because that's what they're for, you would get laughed at if you were actually a DJ and wore them for a gig.

Almost all real DJ headphones are black, silver, or a combination of both. DJ's don't need fancy looking headphones, they need headphones that isolate really well, won't break if they're banged around, and are loud as sh~t.

What are the BEST DJ headphones out there?

My Scullcandy headphones are beginning to break, and I need some good quality DJ headphones that are durable and can withstand very loud noises.

I thank whoever answers this. :)

Answer
First, SkullCandy headphones are not DJ headphones they are DJ STYLE headphones, their build qulity is inferior to professional DJ headphones and they cannot handle the volumes necessary, the audio often becomes muddy or distorted.

As to the best out there there are a number of reputable brands: Pioneer, Allen & Heath, Sony, Shure, Denon, Technics, and Ultrasone are some of the ones that come to mind.

1. Pioneer
- Good: HDJ-500 **
- Better: HDJ-1000 *
- Best: HDJ-2000 *

2. Allen & Heath
- Better: Xone XD-40
- Best: Xone XD-53

3. Sony
- MDR-V500
- MDR-V700 *
- MDR-7509

4. Shure
- SRH-550
- SRH-750
- SRH-940

5. Denon
- DNHP-1000

6. Technics
- RPDH-1200

7. Ultrasone
- DJ1-Pro

* Personally I recommend the Pioneer HDJ-1000's or HDJ-2000's or the Sony MDR-V700's
** The Pioneer HDJ-500's are great if you're on a budget.

Stay away from: SkullCandy, Reloop, and WeSC. They may look good but they are not designed for performance DJ's. The quality is lower and they do not go as loud as the headphones I listed.

I also wouldn't recommend the Dr. Dre headphones, although of decent quality the lack of swivels and folding means they would be prone to damage from transport and constant adjustment.
