Good headphones for PC?

Harrison

Hi, I was wondering if any of you know any headphones for under 120$ that are DURABLE (won't break easily, and last a long time), RELIABLE (my last headphone kept turning off and on all the time and it was VERY annoying), and are for PC (no console headphones or anything, I just want to be able to plug it in via USB and be done with it). If anyone can find one for me that would be amazing! :D

Answer
Depends on what you do on your computer.
If you watch a lot of movies, listen to a lot of bassy music, and generally want a more "fun" sounding headphone, audiophile headphones + a $10 clip on mic is the way to go. I personally own the Audio Technica ATH-M50 with a $10 Zalman clip-on mic (totaling ~$130), and the sound on both is amazing. It's a bit cumbersome since there are two cables, but since they never move, it's not really a problem.

If you're a Counter-Strike pro who needs to listen to footsteps in B Tunnel, listens to orchestral/classical music, and doesn't care about bass, then the Audio Technica AD700 headphones + a $10 clip on mic (~$110) should work. The AD700s are known for their positional accuracy and their total lack of bass.

But of course, there are always ones that fit right in the middle of the two extremes. Most headsets I've used fall into this category. The SteelSeries Siberia V2 headset (~$70) is very neutral. It still has some positional accuracy along with some bass. Very light and comfortable. Two other headphones that need a clip on mic that are worth mentioning are the Shure SRH440 ($100) and Sennhesier HD449 ($90). Very neutral, maybe even moreso than the Siberias.

Most of these aren't USB, unfortunately.

Listening to headphones on PC?

Lynn G

Is it possible to listen to your headphones and have your music play out loud on your pc speakers at the same time?

Answer
If you have a separate headphone jack (as most newer models do) you can plug in your head phones and then just make sure your speakers are on. It works on my pc. :)
