What are some GREAT quality headphones under 100 dollars?
raaaaawr
My boyfriend wants Beats by Dre for his birthday, the over-ear ones. (Studio, Pro or Solo are the names of the over ear ones) But those are way to expensive. What are some over-ear headphones that have just as good quality, but for a lower price?
Answer
Sennheiser HD555
Alessandro MS1
Both are great but have different styles of sound so it's a matter of taste. See head-fi.org, specifically these threads might help: http://www.head-fi.org/search.php?search=ms1+hd555
On those threads you might also see people talking about Grado sr60/sr80 because Grado is the same brand as Alessandro. The MS1 is supposed to be a more neutral headphone than the sr80, and are supposed to be a step up (more similar to the sr125). But if your boyfriend only listens to Rock and hip-hop, then the sr80's might be a better choice. As for the HD555's, they're said to be good for a wide variety of genres.
*Edit*
Yeah the hd280's are good too but they're closed-cup. If he needs his headphones to block some noise then go with the 280's. Otherwise the 555's will sound a little better since they're open-air (except the 280's bass is better because it reverberates off the cup).
