My laptop's headphone jack is for some reason not functioning properly. Everytime headphones are placed in, they make little to no sound unless they are - essentially pushed - to an angle. Anyone know what's wrong, or how it can be fixed?

Are you sure it's not the headphones themselves?
Anyways, if it is you input jack that is faulty, you'll need to purchase an express card or replace the motherboard.

Sorry for the short answer, but it's impossible to do that.
Something you can do as an alternative is to extend the mic jack from the back of the computer to where your monitor is with a 3.5mm 3-conductor male-to-female cable.
They're available from 3 ft. to 50 ft.
It should be shielded, since it is carrying a mic-level signal. The one in the link below is shielded, and is 12 ft. long.
