guitar headphones???

geetarsolo

i had 150 dollar bose around-ear head phones and i thought they would be great to plug into my guitar amp...until they broke. It was a short in the wire so I bought a new plug-in piece and tried to fix it but it didn't work. I just read the warrenty info and learned that it wasnt up but since I tampered with them, it is no longer valid. All i have now is ear phone type headphones that are pretty cheap. Will these work or do i need to buy new headphones?

Answer
I've been in electronics for far too many years.

While you may have had a great set of headphones, $150 is too much to spend for use on a guitar amp.

Go to Radio Shack and look at the selection. I think they even have a set on sale this week for under $40.

I have a set that goes back 30+ years, and still sounds pretty good. Over-the-ear cushions, 1/4" Mic plug. Very good frequency response.

You have to be careful, though, using them with a guitar amp. That amp can put out a lot of wattage; and unless your headphone jack has power limiting, it can blow the earphone drivers.

Good thing about Radio Shack; if you don't like something you bought, you can return it within 30 days as long as you keep the original packaging (and receipt) and the device is still in sellable condition.

Headphones? Electric Guitar?

Q. My husband wants headphones for his electric guitar or amp or something. Can any headphones work? What are the best? How much do they usually run? Where can I buy them at?

Answer
Ok. You can get anykind of headphones that you want as long as you get an adapter for the 1/8 inch jacks to the standard 1/4 inch guitar jack. If you have no idea what i just said, Write this down, go to a radio shack (Or some other electronics store) and tell them that you want a 1/8 in. to a 1/4 in adapter. Here is a picture of one...It's the big one on top.

I Did this instead of having to buy specialty headphones so i can use them for both music and guitar. if you already have a good pair of headphones, just use those. if you don't go here...

Hope i could help.
