I just recently bought a pair of Sennheiser HD 595 headphones and am pretty impressed, but have been reading that you need a headphone amp to really enjoy these cans. I was looking at the FiiO E5, and it is very cheap, so will it boost sound quality or just serve as a volume boost? I'm mostly looking to improve sound quality and soundstage, volume isn't a huge deal for me. What amp should I get (under $75)?

FiiO headphone amplifiers are popular units, which comes as no surprise considering their low prices. Within the same price range of manufacturer retail prices*, though not quite the same level of portability as the FiiO E5, you should also seriously consider the Electric-Avenues Pocket Amp 2.
There are numerous headphone amplifiers and DAC/amplifiers available but few in the price range of the E5 and Pocket Amp 2 that are also capable of matching their performance. Limited to these two choices only, after itâs all said and done, I would purchase both the Electric-Avenues Pocket Amp 2 and the FiiO E5 *(as long as you can find the FiiO E5 on sale for less than USD 20.) Otherwise I would choose the Pocket Amp 2 over the E5.
