Best over ear headphones for under $150?

Josh

What are the best "bang for your buck"?

Answer
the best headphones of treble clarity and the sound stage would be a Sennheiser HD518. I have one on my head as i type. The bass has an audible and solid impact, but it will not deliver the desired sound for hip-hop or rap. Dubstep, techno, metal, rock, and pop are good with this set.

Bose AE-2s, i would say, deliver a bass much similar to that of the Sennheiser's. it has more noise isolation as the sennheiser's were built open-aire. It is the headphone of choice by many professionals. With a great mid range and decent treble, it excels at Country, Classic rock, techno and pop.

The World famous Shure audio company creates the Shure SRH-440 headphones. These cans have played a role in creating audio for many different types of movies and music. The voice talent of Optimus Prime in the transformers movie, and the old TV show, has used that gear for his recordings in the movies. These headphones are not meant for consumers, since they have none of the frills of normal cans. These headphones say "I'm here to give you accurate sound, nothing more, nothing less."

If you want noise cancellation, then check out the Sony MDR NC60

Best noise cancelling headphones for $150 or less?

I love the Bose but I don't want to pay $300 for a pair of headphones.

Answer
Whatever headphones you go for, remember that through eBay and Froogle you might be able to find some for less. Also, they had decent noise canceling headphones 4 years ago-- and a set of 4-year-old headphones will cost much less than a newer model. For example, do those Bose headphones have an older model? They probably work almost as well as the newest model, and will be much less than $300.
