Headphones play sound but no vocals!?

Ok, well I've had these Panasonic headphones for a little over a year now..
and in the past few days I've noticed that you can barely hear the vocals and some of the lead guitar, yet still have sound blowing out of both headphones. I've also noticed that if i hold the part that plugs into the ipod and move it around a bit I can hear the sound clearly again.
Is there anything I can do to fix this permanently?
Because i personally don't want to shell out another $60 in headphones, and I've essentially grown really fond of my current set..

so..is there anything I can do?

try som electrical contact cleaner or white spirits to clean the plug and socket dont use a cotton bud in the female socket on the ipod. plug in and out a few times with the male fitting wet this might clean the contacts

They're not completely broken, I can hear the background music, but the vocals sound far away and the echo. I was wondering if this is common and/or fixable. Anything helps, thank-you.

All skull candy headphones come with a lifetime warranty. just go here http://www.skullcandy.com/warranty and submit your claim. As long as you know when you bought your headphones you should be fine to return them for the same price you bought them. Lemme warn you it does take awhile, but it is worth the new pair of headphones. You also might want to try plugging them in somewhere else, it could possibly be your music player headphone jack that could be broken.

Can I use Beats By Dre Headphones to mix vocals?

Q. My KRK RP5 monitors crashed on me and won't work for some odd reason and I'm really low on money to go buy a new set so I was wondering if I can use the studio beats by dre or the new MIXR beats

It's not a great idea to mix on headphones because with monitors, you hear the content from each channel in both ears, and also you want to know how the music will sound in an open environment (though it's good to check the mix on headphones and other sound systems). But of course using headphones to mix is better than not at all I suppose, or using crappy consumer speakers. If you are just mixing for fun and not trying to market your music it's no big deal though.

Headphones don't play vocals ?

Ok I have some Notorius B.I.G headphones which are good quality but after a week the vocals didn't play and the music sound like its underwater.ive gone through 6 pairs of headphones over the past couple of months and I'm sick of this same problem! Is it my iPod jack? I just don't want to buy another pair of headphones so is there any solution?

You're not getting one of the channels. Try using another set of headphones. If the problem persists it's your iPod jack. If not then it's in the headphones. Could be something simple such as lack of contact or bad wiring. If one side is louder than the other that makes it very obvious, however that "underwater" sound you're describing is consistent with that as well. But without seeing it or hearing it I can't be sure to the exact cause.

Headphone Sound Control?

I plugged my headphones (not the ear plug things) into my iPod, and I was watching some youtube clips. I noticed that music played perfectly, but whenever it came to speech it was very feint and sounded like someone was in a fishbowl. My friend recommended I go and change the sound equalizers, and when he did that for me, it played vocals fine, but no music. Frustratingly, I tried them on my computer. When I went on Battlefield I could only hear the others shoot, and not me which was incredibly annoying. I got off and the sound for music is absolutely perfect again. So I decided to try the sound control. Everything is set, it just sounds like the voices are on a really old telly or in a fish tank! Help please?
New Development - When i tried to listen to some more music it now sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks...

Sounds to me like this is a simple case of poor frequency response.

Basically, it sounds like you are getting good treble and probably good bass, but mid-range is lacking. Mid-range is where the majority of vocal frequencies reside. If your headphones aren't representing these frequencies well enough, they will be low and dull. The only real option is to get better headphones.

Use headphones for playback instead of speakers so that the beat and whatever is playing will not picked up by the mic while you record vocals.

It all depends on your mixer and recording setup....sounds to me like the your vocal mic is panned to one side...i.e. if you can only hear your voice in the left ear, your mic is panned all the way to the left...make sure it is centered...

High Pitched Noise from my Amplifier when Overdrive is On and no Headphones are plugged in?

For some reason, every time I play my Guitar with my Amp turned on to the Overdrive channel and without Headphones, a High pitched shriek comes out of the Amp.
This usually occurs when I have my Volume knob on the Amp turned up to >6 and my Gain knob
turned up >6 as well.
This never ever happens when I play my Guitar through the Clean Channel, even when I max out the
Gain knob and the Volume knob on my Amp.
My Amplifier is a Marshall Valvestate 2000 AVT 50 115 Watt Amp.
Help would be appreciated thanks.

Keep in mind, this never happens at all when I play with Headphones on.

You are getting feedback. Feedback happens with overdrive and too much gain and volume.
you have a 50 watt amp.(I just looked at the manual for it)
And it's a tube amp which is pretty loud.
Turn your "overdrive" volume down in a small closed environment or the guitar will pick up the speaker output and cause feedback.(ever heard a vocal microphone squeal on a PA system? same thing is happening to your guitar.)
It doesn't happen with headphones because the sound is coming out of the headphones and the guitar pickups don't "hear it".

It doesn't happen on clean channel because there is no overdrive and boosted gain. If you had a distortion effect pedal on the clean channel it would do that, too.

When you have the amp turned up loud, (and >6 is pretty loud) you need to be #1, facing away from the amp and #2, a good distance away from it.
