Do iLuv headphones mic work on computer?

It says it has a built-in microphone, but has a single cord. How do I use the mic and audio parts at the same time on a computer?

Well, I was confused at this on first but figured it out. I don't know about your computer, but I use a Windows 7, and it has a section to plug in your microphone, and one for your headphones. Open up an audio recorder, I use Audacity, and plug your headphones into the microphone outlet. Change your microphone preference to what your's is called. Mine was 'Microsoft Sound Mapper - Input.' Then start recording your voice, and try to speak loudly, or else your voice will be super quiet. The bad thing I found out about this, is when it's plugged into the microphone outlet, you can't hear anything. So to listen to your recording, you then need to put the cord in the headphone outlet.

If you are doing commentary for a game, or you'd like to talk to your friends, I'd say you should just get a different microphone. Maybe a different one, like an actual microphone. I ordered a Blue Snowball Microphone, because my voice is hard to pick up unless you talk really loudly, and even then your voice is just normal. So yes, it's possible but it's hard to pick up your voice, and you can't listen to audio while recording audio, at least how I explained here.

Xbox 360 headphone with mic?

I recently bought some headphones for the Xbox 360. They connect right into the microphone port. My problem is the mic works, but i can't hear the game through the headphones. which is the whole reason i bout them..

Your headphones will work as a mic, however not very well at all. A mic can also play music, but it doesn't sound very good. Try your computers built-in mic (if it has one) or buy a cheap one at kmart, it will be better than the headphones. If you plug your headphones into a mic input, they will pick up audio, and you should be able to record as if it was a mic. I just don't recommend it.

its crazy im recording and at the same time so are the headphones, so when i record with music on my editing program it sounds choppy distorted and just plain nasty, everythings pluggged into where its supposed to be ive troubleshooted, tried different headphones, even called technical support PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!

Headphones and microphones are essentially the same thing in different directions. You'll have better luck for headphones to work as a microphone than to have a microphone reproducing sound. Perhaps you have the headphone and microphone in the wrong jacks. Try unplugging the microphone and putting the headphone into the jack where you just unplugged the microphone. If you can hear something through the phones without the microphone hooked up, then you may have the jacks wired wrong, or you may have mixed them up. Your microphone could become distorted if you plug it in to where your headphones are to be which is why I suggested leaving that unplugged. Other wise there may be some software or other issue that would need more information to help.

Q. I have headphones that has a microphone on it. I can't get it to work on my laptop. I want it for skype and other things as well but nothing happens when i plug it into the headset jack or microphone jack. When i try to set it up it just uses my laptops terrible microphone. What can i do to set up this headphone/mic!! The microphone works on my ipod i tried it out. I believe its from Motorola.

Right click the speaker icon in your task bar. Select "Recording Devices". Click the device you want to use and select "Default Communications Device" to have your laptop use that instead of another device.

I want to use one of those headphone/mic setups for voice chat on the MMO I play periodically, but don't know how, or if you can, hook it up to the pc.

You just plug it in. If you are using it for chat during games I recommend getting a headset with a USB connection - the Logitech ones are very good and reasonably priced.

Using a headset+mic with USB connection means you can still have ingame sounds set to speakers while voice comms comes through headset - or pipe both to headset, but have music playing through the speakers.

Once connected, you can swap sound device in windows by going to the speaker-volume icon - right side of your start bar - right-click > adjust audio properties > audio > default device=headset. then open an application. go through and change again to pick speakers and open the other app. (Windows won't change the sound output device for an application until you close and relaunch so you can setup which sounds to pip through speakers/headset)

The other option is having a headset that connects to your sound-out and mic jacks on your soundcard, but this means getting in behind there every time you want to swap sound between headset and speakers - which becomes a pain very quickly.
