Which are the best headphones for home studio recording?

Nico

I'm looking for good quality headphones at an affordable price (no more than $50) to use at home for recording. Any suggestions??
PS.: I know I won't find any GOOD quality at that price, but something good according to the price

Answer
Hi Nico,

These headphones should suit your needs perfectly. They are the AKG K 77 Circumaural Closed-Back Stereo Headphones and they come in under your budget by $1:) at $49. What's good about these is that they fit all the way around your ear so you can wear them for long periods of time without any discomfort (trust me - this is a good thing). Also since they are "closed-back" you can do over-dubbing without having the sound leaking out of the headphones when you're recording.

Hope that helps!

Headphones for home studio (voiceovers)?

Darek

I'm looking for good (for the price) headphones for my home studio. The budget is currently more or less 100$. I found the follwing opinion on an internet forum:

"If you're making voiceovers without the Sony 7506, you're cheating your client."
http://voiceoversavvy.com/ftopic3820-15.html

is that true? These are well over my budget but if they're so much better than others...?
If you're for example choosing a cheap condenser mic, you are pretty safe with e.g. Rode NT-1a - it may not be the best for your needs etc., but it's quite popular and widely used. Is there such a "safe" choice among headphones?

Answer
I owned that headphone for many years and that is a stupid review - the 7506 is a great headphone for $100 and it has been a standard studio headphone for many years. They are around $100:
