How come some headphones I saw on websites cost over $200? Is the quality better than iPod headphones or worst? Sum people wrote to buy the ones that cost less than $30. Those are probably horrible.

Answer
There are an overwhelming number of headphones from a variety of makers at every price point. However, quality varies. You should also consider where you'll be using your headphones (ie, at home or on-the-go). Fortunately, there are two amazing options that won't break the bank.

For home use, the Grado SR60 ($69 in USA) offer the greatest value. The sound is so crystal clear and detailed that it feels like you're immersed among the instruments! It sounds significantly better than most $200+ headphones (and it obliterates any overrated, overpriced Bose crap).

For portable use, the Koss Portapros (<$50) are legendary. They've been a bestseller since the 80s and sound almost as good as the SR60. Koss's lifetime warranty is another reason to buy these.

I own both these headphones, use them everyday with my iPod and laptop, and find them extremely comfortable to wear. If I had to choose only one, it would probably be the Portapros, simply for their portability. There are many reviews written on these two models, if you'd like another opinion. Ask any audiophile and they'll attest to their greatness in sound and value. Just remember that more money does not always equal better sound quality.

What is the name of the cable with a microphone jack on one end and a headphone jack on the other?

I want to record the audio coming from my computer's speakers onto the computer, so I need a cable that goes directly from the headphone port to the microphone port, but I don't remember what it's called.

Answer
It would be a 3.5mm or 1/8th" Male to male stereo cable, and you can get them from either

www.cableguyusa.com
http://www.cableguyusa.com/cgi-bin/cable/601-802-6.html

or www.monoprice.com

I know a few people that do this to record Audio from Streaming websites. A trick that you can do once you have your output connected to your input is use Windows Movie maker. Create a movie with a picture and make that picture a bit longer than what you want to record. Then use the Narrate feature of moviemaker to capture the audio instead of your voice. This will save the audio to it's own file
