wireless headphones for a television?

Q. My grandads friend has got some wireless headphones for the tv, but when he uses them the other people in the room can still hear the tv normally from its speakers. His friend cant remember where he bought them from, has anyone ever heard of these, and if so what are they called and any links to a website where they can be bought please?

Answer
quite a few wireless headphones are made by sony, sennheisher

they normally get hooked up to the tv's headphone jack (which would turn off the tv speakers)

or get hooked up to the tv's audio out jacks if it has them (tv speakers will still play)

if you use cable box or sat you can hook up the headphones to the boxes analog audio out if they are not being used to connect to the tv but you will still be able to hear sound from the tv speakers

it is preferable to get rf wireless type headphones because you will not need line of sight with the transmitter

Wireless Headphones!!! Help!?

curely cuz

I want to be able to play music, listen to podcasts etc but without all the wires. Basically I want to be able to use wireless Headphones with my computer is this possible. As well as that I do have some music equipment such as a mixer if that helps.

Answer
This is absolutely possible. Nowadays there are quite a few wireless headphones that offer good audio along with the convenience of being wireless. What's your budget? There are some low price entry-level wireless headphones out there, but the more you're willing to invest the better you're going to get in terms of a strong signal, lack of interference and high quality sound. Depending on your exact needs you can choose between infrared wireless headphones--which are rechargeable and have little to no interference when in the room with the transmitter but have a short range--and radio frequency headphones--which have the longest range but are prone to interference from any electronics on the same radio frequency. It would be easier to give you a specific recommendation if you explained a bit more about your situation. Do you plan to stay in one room while using your headphones or move around a lot? What's your budget?
