I need noise canceling headphones, but I don't want to spend more than $200. I'm thinking of buying these headphones, but I'm not sure if they're noise canceling or not...

There are a wide selection of headphones available on the market currently, and for the most part, the quality of the sound and craftmanship will depend on the price that you are willing to spend. On the lower price range (less than $50), you will be able to find some pretty good headphones that will be perfect for somebody who is just looking to listen to music on their mp3 player or computer, and are not full-on audiophiles. In the medium price range ($50-150), you will get a good selection of very high quality headphones that would be perfect for nearly everyone who is not involved with music professionally. The quality of these headphones are going to be suberb, should cancel out almost all background noise, and will be of a quality craftmanship that is going to last for quite a long time. On the more expensive end of things ($150 and up), you are going to find professional quality headphones. For the normal person this is going to be complete overkill as they provide a quality of sound that is amazing, but is usually only sought after by professionals that are working on their own music (or the type of people who make sure their house is wired with the best speaker systems on the market).

Im looking forward to buy a headphone under $100 (max $120) but I cant decide.
I have a few requirements.
1) Over the Ear (padding must not touch the ear)
2) Noise cancellation
3) Looks great and solid.
4) Durable
5) A lot of bass. (I listen to Metal, a lot of dubstep, hiphop and pop)

Can you please recommend me some headphones within that prize range?

Best headphones for under $100?

I'm looking for a really good set of headphones mainly for listening to music on my iPod or on my computer preferably for under $100. I'd like them to be fairly cool looking too but I don't really mind the look too much, it's just a preference.

I listen to a very wide range of music from power pop, death metal, rock, alternative, trance, deep house, ambient, classical, and some dubstep. I've looked at a few but I constantly hear different things about each pair. Steelseries' Siberia V2 looked really good and it'd be awesome to double as a gaming headset but if they're only just subpar or average for music, I won't bother. I'm not sure about them though, as I've never tested them first hand.

My second choice is the Sony MDR V55s. I tried them on at Best Buy and they sounded amazing but the only small gripe I have is that there isn't any noise isolation which kind of bugs me. Then there were the Headrush Fusions which I randomly came across but know virtually nothing about. And finally the Audio Technica AD700s looked really good but I heard there was virtually no bass at all which is worrisome.


Which of these would be the best option or does anyone else have any better suggestions?

Normally I would say either Audio Technica or Sennheiser - but the model you sepecify (AD700s) is an open air one, which means you will pretty much hear everything around you.
Also, the new model of the AD700 is over your price range (~$250 -$300).

If you care about noise cancelling, look into Audio Technica ATH-ANC7B which have active noise-cancelling and are also closed-back headphones, however- they cost $135.
Another option is their ATH-M30 ($60) - but they are not noise-cancelling by defenision.

As for Sennheiser - get the highest HD model you can get that is a closed-back one.
