I basically listen to Korn, Metallica, Three Days Grace, Papa Roach, etc and I need some headphones that are meant for metal and rock and have good noise cancelling. I have done my research but I still need clarification and I am willing to spend $200 MAX. I've looked at Sennheiser, Monster, and Soul by Ludacris and I have heard that Soul is basically for pop and rap.... I'm not too sure about Monster and Sennheiser.

Answer
If REAL quality is an issue, please go for REPUTABLE brands only such as B&W, Sennheiser (most affordable), Shure, Grado, Denon, AKG, Audio-Technica (NOT to be mixed with Technic which is utter rubbish as well!), Etymotic or Beyerdynamic. Things like V-Moda, Klipsch, Sony, Panasonic, JVC and Philips are ONLY "okay-ish" indeed. Please do NOT fall a victim to FASHION ACCESSORIES by buying Boombox, Ministry of Sound, Sol/Republic/Revolution, Noontec Zoro's, Benetton, a-jays, iFrogz, Marley, Fanny Wang, Razer, Karl Kani, WESC, Turtle, JH, Dr.Dre/Beats/Solo, Ludacris/Soul, Koss, Skullcandy, Lady GaGa, Skullcrushers, Monsters nor Bose, because they are ALL seriously overhyped and overpriced "fashion blingbling gimmicks" with a very poor durability and sound quality, NOTHING else (and those who try to claim they are good do NOT know ANYTHING about QUALITY anyway!), BE THEM FAKE OR NOT!

Also, please do NOT go for the overly thumping bass that only distorts everything else, focus on GOOD sound quality and durability IN GENERAL.

What studio reference headphones should i buy?

Jonhny

I produce electro/house/dubstep and was looking into buy some studio reference headphones. I have been looking at the sennheiser hd600. But would those be the best for producing bass heavy music? Is there a pair of reference headphones that would be better for writing my genre of music?

Answer
AKG or KRK

They are both more truthfull then sennheiser.
AKG varies a lot in price range and models. (obviously more expensive is likely to be better)
KRK has one or two models only.

I'm looking for a good pair of headphones that will last me a couple of years. The MOST I can spend is about 100 dollars.

Does anyone have reccomendations?

Answer
Skull Candy.
10 dollars from marshalls and im sure other places.
IM NOT KIDDING
They are the best head phones i've ever owned and the sound is incredible. Amazing buy for the quality.

Can anyone suggest quality headphones that last more than a few months and used heavily?

I have dozens of headphones and after a while, one of the speakers begin to fade and one ear is louder than the other. I have tried numerous headphones including the new marshmellow ones.

I use my ipod everyday and try not to tangle the cords of the headphones. Yet, here I am again with a speaker fading in one ear. Can anyone suggest headphones (that aren't too big) that I can get more use out of or how to better take care of my headphones? I'm on my 4th pair this year. Thanks.

Answer
I can't say which ones are going to be perfect, but I usually buy headphones for my kids over at digitaldealz.net since they have such great prices, it really doesn't matter if they ruin them.

Here is a link to their headphones section:
