Question related to a male to 2 female headphone jacks splitter?

Awan

Is it possible to use the above mentioned splitter in such a way that one can listen to two different audios on each headphone, like song on one and movie on the other or game on one and any other audio file on the other?

Answer
No. Splitters as you describe send the SAME audio signal to two sets of headphones.

If you want to have two different audio outputs going on, from your computer, you would need two sound cards, and you would need to be using software that could differentiate between the two sound cards. For example... there is a program called Virtual DJ. With it, you can send the main mix output to one sound card, and you can send the Monitor (for cuing, testing songs, ext) output to a second sound card.

So... again... no. A headphone splitter won't allow you to listen to two different audios in each headphone.

What are at the best Y-splitter cables for by PCs headphone jack?"?

LUIS III

I have a question about Y-splinter cables. What if any one does not fit properly into my PC, I have a Y-splinter that looks similar to http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Unlimited-splitter-mini-phone-stereo/dp/B000V6R2Z4/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1202568382&sr=8-24. The piece that must go into my PCs headphone jack must to be wiggled all-around in order to work right. I want to make sure that that won't happen again. Also, I don't one in the loss of audio. I'm thinking it would cost $20 or less.

Answer
Radio Shack has them. Make sure you get the stereo one and not the mono.

Any one of these are suitable for your request. I have the cheapest one and it works fine:

So my laptop has three 3.5 mm jacks, one for headphones,
one for mic and one for speakers.
So I was wondering if I can convert the speaker jack
into a second headphone jack so 2 people can watch a
movie with headphones.
I know there is a dual headphone jack splitter available
but I want to do it without it. Is it possible?

Answer
Can you do it? Maybe. Is it worth the trouble....NO.

You would have to remove the main circuit board from your computer. Then, depending on how the traces are routed to the speaker jack, you would have to cut them and then jumper over from the headphone jack.

Now, if the traces to the speaker jack are on an internal layer of the printed circuit board, you'll have to remove the speaker jack from the board, drill out the mounting holes to clear the via connections, glue the jack back in place, and then add your wiring jumpers. Oh yeah, there's a specialized drill bit that you need to use in order to not short internal layers of the PCB together.

Really...it's that big of a hassle to use a headphone splitter?

If you have a headphone jack splitter, will speakers and headphones work at the same time?

I need to be able to use speakers and headphones simultaneously in my macbook pro. If i get a headphone jack splitter, will my music play through the headphones and the speakers or only one of them?

Answer
It will play through both.
